I'd have to say Issac newton, defiantly. He made the largest leap in science (or should I say how we measure and test scientific theories?) than anyone else.

If you are a diabetic, you might be inclined to say Frederick Banting (for discovering the use of insulin.) If you are an airline pilot, you might say it was Orville Wright. Your choice is going to be influenced by whose work is personally most useful or interesting to you.
For his genius in understanding human nature (from which all man-made creations flow,) I nominate William Shakespeare.

Above is somebody impersonating Gene Bourne (not for long) Gene is "575" the phony is '757' I'm Jim Moody. Gene Bourne finally talked me into Joining Yahoo O&A this week. I've known Gene for 30 years and he is the most gifted individual I've ever known. I make my living writing computer software. I was with him when he checked on his question and found another member impersonating him, changing only the numbers after his name. There were also accusations he was attempting to steal poetry. (He composed a poem for my wife Judy,15 years ago that helped save my marriage.) You know Gene in pixels. I know the man. I've seen him play piano so beautifully, it actually brought people to tears. His paintings are treasured. His kindness knows no bounds. He is in every way, the best friend I'll ever have. I'm not in the least artistic, but to watch Gene create something is remarkable. This impersonator, just after pasting this mock image, asked on the open forum "Does Gene Squat To Pee". The answer is yes, he does, because last year a bone broke in his spine and is wedged against the nerve stem. It fractured where his spine curves to the right. He lives each day in pain. He can walk okay, but can't stand in one place long enough to pee, so I imagine he does have to sit down to pee. I will ask the person who is impersonating him, to come out and apologize. His prognosis is not good, and he'd get mad it I told you, but there's a chance he has hairline fractures in the same place the lateral bone snapped. That could mean paralysis of his right side. I was talking to Judy, my wife. If I can't hear Gene play the piano at least now and then, It's going to break this country boy, computer nerd, redneck's heart. Please pass this on to anyone who cares for Gene. He became so upset when he saw his name being used, his bloodpressure shot up to 180. He is in bed, sleeping. I'm staying over tonight. I couldn't sleep. I thought it best, since Gene's a bachelor and lives alone. Whoever did this can e mail me personally. I've got a few words for you. A friend of Gene's and proud to be a Southerner. Are you proud of yourself, Phony Gene 757? Jim Moody.

Issac Newton was very intelligent . I also think Leonardo Di Vinci was a supper innovator in so many fields that we are still "discovering" his inventions and their uses . Like a machine gun , a helicopter , a writing pen , scissors, tanks and many more things he thought of way before our time .

I beg to differ. It is some of the recent US Presidents who were the smartest. The incumbent is not excluded.

Anyone can be smart if press freedom and knowledge freedom is not censored, and knowledge of why currency of one country differs from another, there will not be a one eye jack controlling the entire blinded society. It all depends on the country you stay and the media control in airing news which is uncensored and knowing the truth from the unreal based on consensus perception on every citizen because we are born with eyes, brains, mouth and ears to listen to what is the truth and what is not the truth in terms of country or national finances in the P&L account to be updated monthly on the press on the inflow and outflow of upgrading currency yearly quota for top performing leaders in the country, since they are paid high salary, high allowances to make lead the country richer. for a better living not heading towards disaster and economic turmoil like war, and leadership of living lives as a leader without currency upgrading quotas and not doing any profit for the national currency due to no repegging for the purpose of strengthening the value of the national currency blaming other countries on their repeg with lots of censorship on financial news everywhere. No country is mentioned for security reasons.

My conclusion is the smartest person on planet earth is the top performing leader leading peace based on world currency performance and stability, business and currency upgrades annually, without stealing from citizens, but through international trades based on their own country natural resources and retaining national expertise fully utilised by using undivided racial synergy in unity towards the building of the nation, the fair treatment of all human beings based on chances given to every race based on their capability, knowledge to excel in wisdom and making everyone productive with non-racist career opportunities as shown in press
