Is there anyone out there who eats right all day, every day? I try my best to eat well, but sometimes I just go with what's convienient, especially if I am really hungry. I take vitamins too.

But who really eats well and cuts all the bad stuff. (caffine, soda, sweets, processed foods, etc.)

Just wondering how everyone else is doing with this?

Ive heard and read soooo many things about diet and pregnancy...I had a friend that was prego and she is a vegetarian.."a no meat or egg eater"..that took away most of her protein sources for her pregnancy..but guess what? she craved Chicken..I mean craved chicken..she ate it like it was goin outta style!!! Im so amazed at the body..for during pregnancy it can work for you and against you...So her pregnancy she was a non vegetarian..and a vegetarian when she wasnt pregnant..She has two beautiful healthy girls today..When I was pregnant..I didnt know any better and thought that no matter what "I was eating for two"..so eat what you crave I was told from others..and thats exactly what I did..I ate alot of salads, cheeseburgers, dingdongs, candy, pop, water, drank lots of starbucks..carmal mackiota mochas and whatever I craved..I even drank eggnog late/mochas..whenever..I found that I had gained a total of ninety pounds at end of pregnancy instead of the normal twentyfive to thirty five pounds..you supposed to just gain..I had started out at a weight of 130..five foot five..WOW..I thought thats horrible..and just to get it all of after baby..Well I only lost fifty five of it before I was pregnant again w/ my second son...I didnt really eat as much as I did w/ my first..I still ate what I craved which wasnt much..different pregnancy I guess. But I did learn from the first and that was to eat more vegies and protein..drink lots of water..I still had a can of pop once in a blue moon..shirley tempo..or Roy Rogers..but I ate alot better and took better care of myself...My third pregnancy I hardly ate at all I think I had a "eating disturbance"..Ive been under alot of stress for the last four years ..my husband went through two back surgeries..when I was pregnant w/ my second at seven months..just moved into a small Rambler and was stressed because I had to do all lifting of my first and take care of house etc..so the stress had gone from my second being born to my third almost three years later...Thats why I think I had a eating adversions....I only gained one pound in the first trimester total..but the weight I didnt lose from my second pregnancy..still there had a bearing on how much my body was willing to gain total in the first place..I ended up eating better throughout the second and third trimesters of my third pregnancy..I really feel that I ate my best for this pregnancy..lots of water, wrote down everything I ingested .and Took really great care of myself..But little did I know that I was goin to end up w/ Eclampsia aweek after my third son was born and almost lose my life..because I feel that that was caused by the stress of four years.ontop of my body and a third pregnancy..and the fact that I didnt eat as well in my first trimester..of that pregnancy..and didnt get enoughrest..But the awesome blessing is I have three beautiful boys..and that what counts!!!.The only people I know around me that eat "Perfect"..are the trainers at the gym except for out of three weeks out the year theyre all allowed to eat "garbage" for three weeks only..LOL..Im sure out there somewhere theres abunch of pregant women that eat"perfect", dont smoke, drink or eat caffine, dont eat sugars, or do any drugs, or use any topical lotions, or do anything but be perfect..LOL..I havent really met any of those people so I dont know..But I have only met trainers thats why I do know theyre allowed to eat threeweeks out the year and go on a junk fook binge..but only three weeks..so can you imagine the rest of the year just eating almost nothing..and perfectly..right??...Oh..and forgot "HollyWood"....them also..have to diet..or lipo..LOL...But in reality of you and I is to do our best to watch while pregnant what you ingest can affect baby...AS SAid....EVERy THIng In MODERation!!! Pregnant or not..LOL....I believe in that saying to the T..I dont feel that you should deprive yourself of "soda, caffine, caffine/surgar products, or processed foods".Just eat in moderation..So lets just say that you for example want a "Processed food portion on your plate..then have a beautiful green salad to go with it..See..Its in moderation..and you dont have to deprive yourself..I know youre doin allright..I do know from all your questions Im a fan of yours already and excited for you and your baby..I know you love your baby and wouldnt do or eat anything to hurt yourself or baby...So you dont have to worry..Its instinctual..Just do everything in moderation..Youll be Awesome and K!!! God bless..You and Baby!! I pray that things go Awesome for you and Labor and Delivery..;))

You CAN have caffeine in moderation, 1 or 2 beverages per day is fine. Alcohol is a no no. So are a lot of over the counter and prescription meds. If you eat cold lunch meats or any other prepackaged meats you have a chance of getting listeria, so heat them up first if you eat them. Sushi is a no no too, unless you get pieces in which all the ingredients are cooked. Peanut butter is fine, there's no hard medical evidence that it is linked to allergies in babies. Also, try not to eat fish more than twice or 3 times a week, and large fish like swordfish no more than once a month. They can have high levels of methylmercury.

I have given up alcohol and smoking and i'm taking my vitamins but I have been feeling so rubbish I have just been eating what i fancy or can cope with. I want to try and eat healthier when I start feeling a bit better (not so sick) but no one is perfect and I think as long as I eat a range of everything good and bad I can worry about what weight I have put on after the baby is here.

With both of my pregnancies I tried to eat healthy at all my meals and saved my chocolate attacks for snacks. It's really good that you take your vitamins b/c they should make up the nutrients you may be lacking on those convenient days. Just try to eat lots of fruits and veggie and lean proteins when possible but it is ok to to enjoy cravings too. You can also discuss your eating with your doctor at your next visit too. Chance are if your gaining the right amount of weight and growing properly he'll agree. Congrats!

When my wife was pregnant, she drank caffinated drinks, ate sweets, ate processed foods, and early in the pregnancy she smoked and was taking Adderall (a prescription ADD medication / amphetamine). She also took the vitimins she was prescribed. Our son was born on September 3, 2006 at 9 lbs. 7 oz., he had an APGAR score of 9/10 (his toes were blueish), and he's continued to develop normally (though he was well above the 100th percentile in weight & height in his early months).

Some people are very strict with what they put in their bodies when they are pregnant. And that's fine...but I'm not really one of them. I try to eat the best I can-Limited fast food (about once a month), no soda, lots of water(I drink about 4-6 16 oz. bottles of water a day), hardly any fried food (about once a month-buffalo wings!), lots of vegs and fruit, whole grains (I stay away from white bread), low fat yogurt, etc. My vices are pasta, brownies, candy, coffee (only 1-2 cups a day), mac and cheese, and high sodium veggie soup! I think as long as you eat a lot of good things, it gives you room to indulge in your cravings an there is nothing wrong with that!
