Yesterday evening I was in Wal-Mart with my husband getting diapers for are 8 week old. I pulled on my shirt collar because it was irritating me a little well I guess somehow I broke the chain on my necklace and lost the diamond cross that was on it. It was 1/4 of a carat with a lot I mean a whole lot of sentimental value, it got me threw some very rough times in my life including the Brith of are baby who was born way to early “a premmie” Anyway my question is if you see something like that laying on the floor or in a parking lot would you pick it up and put it in your pocket or turn it in to someone? I know there are dishonest retail workers so they my pocket it as well. Just seeing peoples answers might give me some kind of hope but I know deep down in side its gone forever but thanks for answering.

Dieth G, you need to grow up and learn how to speak in correct sentences before you go an answer adult questions, this is not a question for a child.

well to be honest if I found a baby shoe I have no need for it, so I would lay it on the carts, if I found a necklace I would take it, but I would not sell it, I would give it away. Wal Mart is too sleazy to have it turned in. The employees would most likely pocket it. Sorry you lost your necklace, but it was only a thing. What you did not lose was your now healthy baby, and the knowledge that you got through some real hard times, that can't be taken away or lost. Good luck. Tell the baby I said Happy New Year!!!

You know, I would hand it in...I believe what goes around comes around. I found a purse a few months back laying in the middle of a footpath. When I opened it, it had $250 in it. While I must admit, the thought of keeping it did run through my mind for a second, I looked up the phone number and rang & left a message saying where the purse could be picked up from. A frantic woman showed up & without even looking inside, thanked me very much, and then left. When I got back home later that day, there was a huge bunch of flowers and a tatts ticket waiting for me, with a note telling me that money was to pay the last of her kids Christmas layby. It made my day, knowing that purse fell into my hands, and not someone else that would have done the dishonest thing.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, that somebody has found it, and will hand it in. There are still some honest people out there.

I once found a lady's purse in the parking lot of a Walmart. I looked inside to see if there was ID in it. There was and there was also a envelope filled with money. Lots and lots of $100 bills. Because there was so much money in it I didn't want to leave it at the customer service desk. So I drove the purse to the address on the ID. The women was so relieved she was crying. Apparantly her family was leaving on a trip the next day and she had just pulled out lots of cash for the trip. Keep your chin up. There are honest people out there.

If it was found in a certain store, I would ask a worker to announce it on speaker, but not describe it in detail. If someone said it was theirs, they would need to tell me what it looks like.
If found outside somewhere in a parking lot, it would be harder since there are many stores using those parking lots.
My son found money outside of a hair salon and took it in. Nobody would claim it.
Honesty is not gone, but not all would do what my family would. I have had people laugh at me for being honest about money and trying to return things I have found. They say they would just keep it.
I am sorry for your loss and I know it is much more than just a cross to you.

Truth:
I found $87 dollars in a grocery receipt in a parking lot, several years ago. I went into the grocery store and left my name and phone number as well as the adjacent drug store in the event anyone would inquire if it had been found.
I never received a call.
I was out of work at the time, so eventually I spent it on groceries.

Probably let management know I found "a piece of jewelry" and if anyone reports it missing they can contact me.
If I had lost it I would put a flyer on the door asking for information about a lost necklace.
Sadly there are too few honest people left..

i see where you are coming from, but just because they are retail workers doesn't mean they will steal it. what about all the other greedy, selfish people that may have seen it and taken it. i would try going back there if you haven't already and ask if they have found it there. if not, then file a lost property report with your local police department. they will help you out. sorry you lost something so sentimental to you.

i would personally turn it in. just last week i found a 5 dollar bill laying on the floor at work and i picked it up and paged on our overhead that i found the money and to meet me to claim it. co workers passing by laughed and said keep it. but what if it was someones last 5 bux or there lunch money or something. i would hope someone would do that for me. it wouldnt hurt to call walmarts customer service and leave your phone number and to keep checking in. i hope you get it back. but i know there are alot of dishonest people who would keep it.

I would try to find out who's it was and get it back to them. If I couldn't find out who it belonged to I would put an ad in the paper under lost and found. If that didn't work I'd give it to the cops and hopefully the person who lost it would call to report it. There is only so much I could do, but I would go out of my way to get it back to it's rightful owner.

Definitely put it in my pocket.

I don't think I should hand it to someone else, it's not theirs either, so I might as well keep it for me. I don't know who owns it, so who should I give it to? Now that you mentioned it, maybe I can give it back to you, but I don't even know how you look like in person or who you are, so how am I gonna give it back? More likely than not, you lost it forever. Sorry.
