I've always been part of the Libertarian-Left. I believe in strong personal freedom but sensible government regulation of corporations.

Right - Left scale doesn't adequately explain government and leads to all sorts of contradictions. (ie Reps always for deregulation of industry but against civil liberties)

Check out this scale

...............Authoritarian..

Left_________|_______Right

.....................|

.............Libertarian..

I considered myself a Libertarian for many years, long before I heard of Ron Paul.

Not likely. What Ron Paul espouses is not libertarian philosophy. If you want to actually learn something about libertarian philosophy, I suggest you read some of the works of Will Durant and Ayn Rand.

Ron Paul is basically a fraud. To begin withhe is a racist--and tha tis absolutely contrary to libertarian philosophy. In adddition, his "economic agenda" is not libertarian--it is simply warmed over neoconservative rhetoric.

No. But I do now realize how many people are wearing those tin foil hats because of Ron Paul!

Paul has definitely made a serious impact on the American electorate with his passionate plea for smaller government, non interventionist foreign policy, and elimination of income taxes, no doubt about it!
