Yes, I think it's cruel. I had to live in a trailer when I first started out in my career. I worked my way up and gradually bought a house. Trailers are affordable and people living in them should not be ostrasized. Many of them are hard working folks who want nothing more than to better themselves. They should not be put down any more than people who have to live in developments for public assistance. I believe it is the person and their character and personality that should be judged, not the dwelling they have to endure.

I suppose it can be cruel, but a lot of times it's a correct label. Most ( I mean most not all) of the people I know who live in trailers fit the stereotypical idea of trailer trash. I do know some people who started off living in trailers simply as a stepping stone because it was all they could afford at the time.
Have you ever seen the show My Name is Earl? If not watch it for sure!!

Yep, it's kinda cruel, what I'm used to hearing more of is, "Ghetto Fabulous" or "Hood Rat", {everybody has their own "social sub-culture" that they make fun of}, it's pretty much just another stereotypical description for people that are on a socio-economic level that one feels is beneath them...c'est la vie, whatcha gonna do? The only thing you can control is deciding how you will respond when people make such comments, ya can't change human nature.

Yes i do think its creul..

I asked someone this once when they did it though and their reply was that their trailer looked dumpy and they never clean it up so that is why they call them trailor trash..
I still dont think its right.. Just sterotyping.. just wrong.

Trailer trash does not refer to every person who lives in a trailer- it refers to a more distinct group of people who live in trailers and are seen on "Bad Boys' "Cops" and shows like " Jerry Springer".

I don't know who started the phrase "trailer trash", but the people I know that live in trailers aren't any worse than others. I have seen a lot worse that lives in apartments.

It certainly doesn't seem right to me. Judging a person by their residence is too superficial. Even if they live in a trailer, who's to say what their educational or moral level is.
