Thanks to all, I've been married 5 times but only a total of15 years!! The love of my life passed a year ago from Agent Orange and I'm sitting here bawling!!! He died a horrible death, he smothered from scarred lungs!! The thing that hurt him the most is because the govt. wouldn't recognize it but Dr.'s would, he was in Nam in '67 & '68!!! Alcohol played a destructive part in our marriage!!
Thanks to all it was very interesting!!

I have been married to my best friend, lover and soulmate for over 50 years.
I wish all could have it as good as I have and I thank my lucky stars, everyday.
It's been a good trip.

There's no need to combine any of my married years. For I
have been married to the same man for 45 years. I was thinking it was 46, til I did the subtraction. My how time slips
away, like the song says. The key to a marriages' longevity,
is not to run away, when there are problems. Nine times out
of ten, they can be discussed and dealt with. And there's
a way to work everything out. I never once told my mother I
was having a problem. And I certainly, never went home to
her for shelter. Once you take responsibility of getting married
you have to be determined that this is a life long committment.
And there is going to be the worse, as well as the better. And
often, the worse outlast the better also. Being mature, helps
to weigh the problems and solve them. Everything can always
be worked out rationally, with a little forethought and bargain-
ing. And sometimes, for some, it takes downright work. But
they can all be resolved, with time and patience. And that's
a fact!

Jan 11 will be 50 years to the same man, and I would do it all over again..When I was 19 the thought of being married for 50 years was unbelievable, that would make me almost 70, and 70 was OLD..you had one foot in the grave if not both of them..amazing what we still are able to do..we are going to travel the Eastern half of the US starting March 6th..We have stayed West of the Mississippi several times, so will make that RV work for 4 months..that is our anniversary gift to each other..70 doesn't seem so old any more..how strange is that??

Wow you know sometimes that's what you get when you play house. You will get the kids unless he can prove you unfit. As for the things If you don't live in a common law state you will have to fight for everything you want. If you do live in a common law state it's going to be half of everything. Any women out there that read this need to take note on how not to openly trust the "forever" Make sure your own money and things. Playing house can cost you. It's hard to look at love forever as ending one day but it happens so often. Fight for what is yours and don't just puss out and walk way, if he's controlling he's gonna fight you all the way. Good Luck

Out of 59 years on this earth, I've only been married just over 4 years of them. Married right out of high school for about 4 years. Hit the road for twenty years until the love of my life settled me down and then she died in an auto accident 4 months after we married. Been alone ever since.

Combined- 29 years- first marraige was 8 years( he died), second marraige was 7 years( he's still my best friend) and the third marraige lasted 14 years( that marraige was truly hell on earth and only lasted that long because I did not want to seem like a failure a third time in my families eyes). If you were to ask the number of years I was happily married, that would be a much much smaller number, I've been single now 3 years and they have been the happiest years of my life so far.

Around twelve years all together. No wonder I am so comfortable alone! I didn't realize how few years I was actually married. My last husband and I were married eight years when he passed away in 1988.
