This thinking exists because of the external, visual bias that writing created over speech. You priviledge what you see and begin to think that those things that are unseen may not exist; however, one need only think about this more close to home. Does your head exist? Have you ever seen your head? It is only through touching it or looking at it in a mirror that you see your own head? By the logic you are using, you don't have a head. But we extrapolate that since others that we see have a head, we must have a head too. In the same way, we deduce that the world behind us exists.

We can reasonably take it for granted that the world behind us does exist, even when we don't look at it. We can also take it for granted that the world in front of us also continues to exist when we close our eyes. Consider standing in the middle of a busy street and turning away from the traffic, or just closing your eyes.
Some people are born completely blind, for them the world is a very real place.
Just because one cannot measure or directly experience a phenomena does not mean that it does not exist. For example, radio waves cannot be seen, but they exist, and the discovery of them has enabled many great things.

That's what quantum physics implies, unless you observer it all matter and energy can be reduced to a non-local, history absent, probable state of what could be but is not yet, that is until you observe it. Others wish to believe that this is not the case, even Einstein did not like what quantum physics implied and is quoted as saying "god does not play dice with the universe", however all evidence thus far supports the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics so that suggests to me... well see my question Strong evidence of God? in my profile for my thoughts on the subject.
Though I think I should just drop the god stuff and call it cosmic consciousness because many simply will not consider anything that suggest god but in my opinion a conscious universe is as close to the classic definition of "god" as one could ever hope to get but atheist really hate my idea even though quantum evidence can be used to support it, I think it is shame that anyone theist or atheist would close there mind so totality to anything just because it threatens their beliefs.

Do you exist, since I can't see you? I can't prove you are real, just as you cannot prove I'm real... does that change the reality??
