I was recently thinking that being a teacher could be a really good job.

1. You get so many holidays
2. You could change someones life or your atleast making a difference which is kind of fufilling
3. It would probably be a good experience and you could learn a lot from teaching kids

Being a teacher can be very rewarding (emotionally) if you do it well and put your heart into it.
But it can also be very depressing. You will work with people, with children. You will see everything. Your wages won't be so good. The so called "holidays" are not so much as you think. You have to work extra time to write syllabus, design instructional material, correct assignments and tests, decorate and clean the classroom, make some special visits to families, parents and kids. Work in teams when you have special children or troubled children.
Depending on the level you choose, you'll have to learn different strategies and skills and will have to deal with different behavior and discipline problems.
You may love your school or may hate it, your colleagues and principal. Why? It depends on many factors, but the school system has many flaws.
If you really love children and you think you are passionate about it and would like to make a difference, I encourage you to try it. But if you are thinking just because of the "good" things the profession has, I think it is not a good idea.
If you are not sure, I suggest you watch some movies and documentaries about teaching and what kind of problems and rewards) the teaching offer. There are many of them, from "Dead poets society", to "School of life", "Dangerous Minds" , "Stand and Deliver" and many many others.
You could also be a volunteer in summer camps and field trips, so you'll have the experience with kids and watching how other teachers do.

Like most jobs there are things to like and dislike! I volunteer in the public school and am good friends with three of the teachers in the school as well, so I hear how it really is. There's a lot of red tape with education, it's not just about teaching little minds, it's reports and administrative and ordering limits. There's dealing with school board budget cuts, staff cuts, and overfilled class rooms. And of course there's always a student or two that make the best teachers pray for June! But really, why willingly do something if you hate it??

I totally agree with the 3 reasons you wrote. I also believe that being a teacher is the best career for a mom especially when children are young. However, being able to make the difference in someone's life is as fulfilling as you said. Every effort you put on your lessons, everything you read and try to become a better role model for your children, will go to your own life enhancing different areas of it. The constant polishing you experience as a person being with a class day after day for months and years, really is an experience that brings out your own issues and if you are willing to be a better person, you start dealing with them for the sake or the children and your own.

The hard working part I guess you'd get it from any other job, because, yes, it is hard work, but very, very rewarding. If you are the kind of person who sees things in society or the world that you'd like to change, being a teacher is a good career for you because it all starts with education.

what is good about teaching is that you grow with the kids. you never stop learning new stuff; these may be new facts that are discovered somewhere in the planet ...or new stuff that the students are in to, which would help you, the teacher, relay information to the kids. teaching is all about realting to the students. teachers don't just stand on the blackboard and deliver the lesson... they make sure that the lessons are relevant to the student's life.whatever a person become, a teacher or two has something to do with it...

reason 2 and 3 are good, however, as a teacher you don't get that many holidays - you end up working more on those days off than anything...
i suggest to interview a teacher in your town to get a good idea

It can be a very rewarding career. It is a very demanding profession. You have to prepare to teach your classes, you have to grade papers, prepare bulletin boards, do your room, etc. You can help mold the minds of the future.

There's a lot to put up with: administration, discipline issues, kids of today, stresses of job.
