I think they're crazy. I mean, what would a hamster do with 45 billion dollars? Probably buy himself a whole lot of food, but seriously...

Okay... say no one else wanted to take care of the pet... and it dies. Money lost that could have gone to a more deserving purpose, like charities.

I believe a person can leave their fortune to anyone/anything they want.

I believe the best thing they could do is make certain that their beloved pet has a good, loving homes with trusted caregivers, and leave enough money to keep the animal in food, vet care, toys and treats for the duration of the animal's life; then, donate the remainder of the fortune to the charity of choice. A wildlife conservation organization or an animal rescue or shelter could certainly use the money. Or a scholarship could be instituted for a veterinary college, to help educate the people who want to take care of animals but can not afford the cost of vet school.

I don't see anything wrong with wanting the care of the pets to be a consideration and leaving a few million to do that to someone that can be trusted. I do have serious concerns about someone leaving Billions to an animal that will not live longer than say 10-15 years. Leave the rest of the money to a Zoo, if you love the animals so much as that will certainly help more and be more generous to loads of animals.

I think they are the ones that "made" the money, they should be able to do with it as they wish...... But maybe that should end when they die.,,???

I would feel much better about these craze's leaving hundreds of thousands - even millions of dollars to their pets, (most often it's dogs), if they make ME the the caregiver!!!

I love pets, and would make sure they were taken care of VERY well!

I think those people had nobody to care about them when they were alive, and they knew that ancestors would show up expecting to be on the will. The only one always there for them, loving them unconditionally were their pets. That is the deceased person way of saying where were you when I needed you....You get nothing.

Well, it is their money to do with as they please, but really, leaving it to a pet is usually a way to avoid giving it to friends and family who have done nothing to deserve it. Personally I consider it an unintelligent way to do so, as it would be so much better to start a scholarship fund of some sort with that kind of wealth -- and it'd serve the same purpose too.

it is for the hamsters own good. it gets the mony for its medical expense. no one would pay for other's pet so it is good. but to much of money spending on the small creature is a lot of waste.
