I'm partial to the 70's, but that's probably because that is when Alice Cooper was on the rise to fame, and Alice Cooper is my favorite musician EVER. But there were a lot of other good songs from that era, too.... It's kind of hard to pick.

Its really hard to say - every decade has its rock gods and its rock donkeys. I was born in the mid sixties and grew up with glam rock (Gary Glitter et al), hated disco and punk, skimmed through the New Romantics and electro pop bands and at 17 fell for the lure of bands such as Joy Division, the Jam, the Stranglers, Echo and the Bunneymen and the Cure etc of the late '70's and early '80's.
Now much older and hopefully wiser, I now really appreciate the music of my husbands youth: Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, John Lennon, Cream and Eric Clapton, Hendrix, Pink Floyd etc... (the list goes on). So I suppose I have to say the best decade for me overall is the better side of music of the1970's (sorry Gary!!).

I Think all decades, have just about gave us great music as in all the villotuns of the decades have been avunt.

Sixties - We have, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones etc. All top notch! and i must confess i do appreciate the early workings of the mentofilo's in there year, they were hefty with the youngling do you understand? it is ver commune to me.

Seventies - We have the boogie decade, and oh yes i did some boogying, i boogied all night to the Bee Gees and chums and it must be said, the afro was hip and in style but i never actually had one, although a certain cousin of mine once did, dave. always up for a laugh.

Eighties - I love 80's music, its all quite good, and for its time very in fashion with the younger generation who somewhat today are quite surrealism to the nineties.

Nineties - This was mainly all the hip hop, rappidy pop if you understand, and the now gen are very intrigued i must continue the discussion to the philop of the matter and that is that this is probably the weakest gen.

Overall - I think it has to be said that all combined, would be the best generation, i call it the Sesixeighnine generation, i think it can be very popular, listen to my podcast on charley fm, it will blow your ******* brains out, im quite good on the ol pod but if think about pods, thats what aliens use, and aliens.. Do they exist?

Aliens - Well, this is a crazy matter, roswell etc. Its just weird, what do you think?

The 60's because that is what everyone samples. But for originality beyond that, the 90's. The nineties were not just about "rap," but more about hip-hop, which was more like poetry to a beat. That was when the words out of their mouths meant something. That was also the decade of Nirvana, SWV, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey (back when alcohol hadn't ruined her voice.) There was something for absolutely everyone to enjoy and though there was sampling, it wasn't the only thing done as with today.

Ask any of the most favorite 90's artists who they are influenced by and they will almost always credit a 1960's artist whether is was Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, or Lynyrd Skynyrd.
