I'm only just over 5 weeks pregnant, I took a test which came up positive and have yet to go to the doctor. I had no pains in my stomach at all, but last night we broke down on the motorway and had a pretty stressful night as a result. I had a panic attack as well. I woke up this morning with abdominal pains but no bleeding. Do you think this is ok? I plan on going to the doctor next week for proper tests, but just want to know what others think.

Lover of Jehovah and Jesus: I haven't been able to get to a doctor because they aren't open over the holidays or on weekends. Which is quite frustrating. Fortunately the pain is easing off and still no blood, so I think I'm ok, but will make an appointment soon as the doctors are open again.

I myself had a very stressful day early in my pregnancy and the next day I had some cramping, when I called the doctor they told me not to worry, so long as the was no bleeding and the cramping was not severe. One time stressful situations (even if they last most of the day) will not harm the baby. Try to take it easy for a couple of days though - just for your own relief, after having a crummy day you deserve it.
Good luck!

Finding out you are pregnant is SO stressful, whether you wanted it or not. Are you the type of person who gets stomach pains from stress? I am. Maybe its not even related to the baby! All you can do is try to relax. As long as the pain is not continuing throughout the day, I wouldn't worry. Just mention it to your doctor and if it keeps coming back, keep a diary so you can tell him/her how often and what time of day, etc.

You should only really worry if the pain is accompanied by bleeding, the chances are the pain is the muscles and ligaments around the womb starting to stretch and the embryo finishing its implantation. Your body is going through so much at the moment. The pain I felt (up to about 8 weeks) felt like my period was about to come on. Mention it to the doctor when you go to ease your mind.
Good Luck

it should be ok as long as there is no bleeding and it just mild pains and no severe cramping it could have just been caused by the stress of previous night as the 1st trimester (12 weeks) is most important no doctor or hospital wil mind if you want to be checked out if it carries on go see them but really it should be ok just try and take rest n dont do much heavy lifting etc
Good luck!!

I have heard that if you were an active person and jogged BEFORE you got pregnant - there's no reason for you to stop. But if you are usually a couch potato and never jog, then it's not the best time to start. Being active during pregnancy is recommended - maybe stick to walking though!

I tend to agree with others that you should be fine and feel that the stress probably brought about the pain. Shucks, stress makes me throw up and I've never even been pregnant.
But, if you have medical insurance, most insurance companies have a web presence that may offer on line assistance.
WebMD also has an 'ask a professional' link.

It's probably just a little stress since you mentioned not be able to sleep well. It could also be the placenta implanting which can cause slight cramping.
How soon is your doctor's appointment? In the meantime......rest, eat, and keep yourself hydrated.
And please try not to worry so much.

if this is your first pregnancy it is probably just your uterus stretching - you should be fine, the doc would just tell you to rest, the fact you've not had any bleeding is good. But to pu your mind at ease see the doc, although at 5+ weeks its unlikely anything will show up in a scan, but they'll also check for ectopic. I do hope all is ok and you're in my thoughts and prayers. Take it easy.

The stress probably caused the pain. Just take it easy. Put your feet up, no stress, physically or mentally. Eat good, keep warm. Some times you can get some pain just because your body is going through changes. Just as long as they are minor and don't last too long.
