Cold??/yesternight ,,was 11 in Cairo and -8 where I am , but yes you feel cold in Cairo more??
simply because the weather have a large diurnal and temperature range, with high daytime temperatures and low night-time temperatures due to extremely low humidity. Water acts to trap infrared radiation from both the sun and the ground, and dry Egypt air (away of the coast) is incapable of blocking sunlight during the day or trapping heat during the night. Thus during daylight all of the sun's heat reaches the ground. As soon as the sun sets the ground cools quickly by radiating its heat into space (desert climate)...you can add also the high pollution by Carbon which will do the same..
The human being is capable to adopt to any climate changes , (Perhaps the only creature ),,but that takes days,,the Egyptians are having a low metabolism as the weather is warm most of the year, so when at night and with the big drop in the temperature your body does not have the chance to adopt and raise its metabolism,,, (but when you live in a cold country, your metabolism is high all the time, so you do not feel the cold like you feel it in Egypt, esp. at night),,,that is why when you do not wear heavy clothes always , you start losing weight (without eating more of course ) ,,most of the food will be consumed for warming the body due to the raise of its metabolism (and of course vice versa...lol)
edit: Obviously Alexandria will not have this problems as it is a coastal humid city, the difference between the day and night temperature is less, and people there, developed a higher metabolism than the Egypt inland areas..
