The Fund was up and running within 13 days and they trademark registered the fund's name. They applied previously to trademark register the name "Madeleine" but a German clothing brand called "Madeleine Mode" holds the international trademark (registered in 1958). Because the idea was that the McCanns would sell clothes (t-shirts and wristbands) they could not use the mark "Madeleine".

The "FindMadeleine.com" domain registration was taken on May 4th or 5th, I believe. It's far easier and quicker to do a domain name search than a trademark search.

I'm surprised they found the time to trademark anything with all those flights they were taking to European capitals and jetting across the Atlantic, leaving the twins behind after their sister had just been abducted.

Under charity laws a group must trademark the name.

MY GOD have got nothing else in your life apart from slagging off a poor couple who have lost a child, if you are a mother just stop and think if this had happened to you!!!!!!!!!!!

Boy, they are going to have fun explaining all this to the twins in 15 years time. We all know what awkward questions teenagers can ask !! Bet this couple never get divorced. Methinks together they swim, divided they fall.

This is not unusual. IT is to protect the fund itself from those who would cash in on copyright that is due to the family / fund.
If you click the link below you will see there are 4 for the NSPCC. There is no suggestion of impropriety there.
