I am going to have to take mine to a waste centre for mulching! Wouldnt it be nice if the council picked them up from the kerbside for us!?

PJ - I pay a hell of a lot of council tax so feel I am more than warranted in asking! Our council insists we recycle everything else - so why not! And I have a real tree because they prove to be more environmentally freindly in the long run thanks!

Unless I am using an artificial tree, I always take mu used Christmas tree to the county council's bulky household waste site. Fortunately, I have one only a couple of miles away. When I go there, I make sue I have a full car load of waste, whether its garden rubbish, (I compost what I can but with 2 oak trees they create an awful lot of leaves), cardboard, metal, etc.
Sorry, I hope that didn't sound like preaching, but I'm passionate about recycling and am involved with a residents association which recently launched an initiative - in conjunction with the local councils - to improve the % that is recycled. Ask me for details. Our kerbside collection service takes paper, glass, cans and certain plastics (polymers 1, 2 and 3 - basically hard plastic containers).

Why should the rest of us pay council tax so that you can have your tree picked up?

I've had the same tree for 14 years, so I don't damage the environment every year just for the sake of a few weeks of tinsel and lights!

Buy a plastic tree and stop murdering the poor little pines!

I will put mine back in the box and use it again for several more years.

"Wouldn't it be nice ith the council picked them up from the kerbside for us?" Are you crazy? It would be a very unappreciated and expensive service if the City did pick them up from the "curbside". Be realistic and not so dependent.

Did you need the "City" to help you pick out your tree when you bought it? Uhh...NO! So quietly dispose of it yourself.

Some Councils do. In my street everyone just leaves them on the pavement and looks really bad.

Mines fake so goes back into the cupboard for next year.

lucky for me i have a nice fake christmas tree. It actually kind of looks like the one from Charlie Brown. I will probably store it in the attic for next year when santa decides to bring some goodies.

The one without roots is getting shredded by the council shredder man in a few days and the rooted one is going in a bigger pot ready for next year!
