First move - be active in drama in school. Get your Thespian card.

Second - get a portfolio.

Third - try to meet a successful actor you like and emulate the good parts of their career.

Since it sometimes takes awhile for a break, be sure and get an alternate means of making money down, and Do NOT screw up your grades.

your doing the right thing by searching for a drama group, but it would be easier if you didnt just search 'drama' groups, search for acting classes / groups, and musical theatre classes too. musical theatre might not be where you want to go, but you would have drama classes and just think of the sinding and dancing as extra skills. also musical theatre classes are a lot more common and there will probably be a lot of choice for you, it will give you a lot of oppetunites and new experiences as you'll be taking part in shows and performances. if you find a musical theatre group and join you could also speak to whoever teaches drama there, about having private acting classes. most groups are very helpful with things like this. also look at some online agencies that are genuine, and just gain some extra experience by applying for some extra jobs or student films. start small, you cant just walk straight onto a hollywood set, everything you do has to start somwhere. also if you get homeschooled why not add drama into your schooling schedule? ask your mum or tutor to spend maybe a a couple of hours a week or 30 mins a day practicing acting, do some acting games like improvisiaion. you could ask your mum to give you a character to play, try different ages and eras where the characters would live. then get your mum to ask as many questions as you can and answer the question by improvising in the character. you could also look up monolouges learn some and perform them to your mum and dad and ask for feedback of where you could improve and then show them an improved version of the monolouge the next day or somthing, another good thing to do is also to video yourself performing monolouges and see for yourself where to improve, or post some on youtube and ask for some useful feedback, or even do that on here! and then just start building up your career, dont try and rush, just add to your experience and maybe in a year or two look into agencies and go from there. hope this helps x

14 is a very good age to start.

I'm primarily a voiceover actor though I have been an on camera principle in ads for McDonald's Buick and in a lot of what are called Industrial videos on business and health. I perform primarily in audio dramas and provide content to XM Satellite Radio and Playboy radio.

Having no experience or training now is not a problem. Everything we do is a learned skill. When we were born the first thing we did was learn to breath, then see, then eat, then walk, . . .

I did not start acting until I was about 35. I am now 49. It's better to start young. Hollywood tends towards the younger audiences of 29 and less.

First, train, train, train. Take advantages of the acting classes you have in school/drama society. Perform in plays, whether they are in school, church, etc . . .

Study the performances of great actors. Watch their works and try to duplicate their performances. Then try to make those performances your own.

California also allows you to take community college classes while still in high school. There are high quality inexpensive classes there.

Once you have some skills under your belt. Take headshots, the 8x10 photo actors attach their resume on the back too. In the beginning of your acting career. You will have no credits, but you can make up for it by training.

Never stop training. Anthony Hopkins still studies and has been at it over 40 years.

If you go to USC or UCLA and study acting after you gradate from high scholl. Still act as if you're a working actor and audition when you're not in class. You have the opportunity to get eight good years of work and training in. To become an overnight success in Hollywood takes 10+ years.

Also as an actor, you're always looking for work. It's good to have a career that allows you to work and earn income while you're building your acting career. A good field is computers. I know many computer programmers who work at home at night and have their days free to audition.
