It's cool till like, January 5. After that, it's trashy. It's even trashier to leave the lights mounted on the house all year even if they're turned off.

Seriously.

Of course its not trashy, I think anything after Jan5th is a little lazy but anything before that is cool. Its only once a year you get to put them up so wait a little longer before taking em down.

I thought the official day to take them down was Jan 6, or that could just be the Christmas tree.

The Christmas season ends on the Baptism of Jesus which I believe is somewhere in the 3rd week of January.

Don't remove it, okay?

Most people take them down after new years. That's when the holiday season ends. I leave them up because its easier to find my house when it is foggy if they are left on at night.

Keep your Christmas lights on as long as you want--you're paying the electric bill.

Keep them turned off till next year. You wont have to take them down and put them up in 2008.
