I write long questions but am more likely to answer a short question. I will read the longer ones if the question is interesting and if the person's not rambling or if there aren't tons of typos or mispelled words.

There's such a thing as too long and too short (!) If you can see what the person is asking in about three to five lines, then usually you can give them a reasonable, honest answer.
Still, most of the really long ones are just rants and not really questions at all.

Long or short Q's is fime with me as long as the subject interests me.
