Is System restore on?

A swap file is around 1,5 GB in size.

Right click on My Computer, Click on the System Restore Tab, then click on the check box to disable System Restore. This will save you valuable disk space.

open "My Computer"
RIGHT CLICK on drive C
Select PROPERTIES it will display a pie chart showing usage.
I suspect it will show about 6G used !

Go back to the main My Computer window
Double Click drive C to open it
Click any item in the right pane
Press CTRL + A
Right click the highlighted masses, select properties, it will "shortly" give you the total file size and used space.

You've probably just got more files than you thought, and some is used by windows "swap files"

not much you can do, it's the windows swap file that is taking up the space. you really should put your winows on a bigger drive.
