If you are a student at a university your university will often provide a free antivirus software download online. Just go to their website and do a search.
If youre not a student, I recommend buying Norton Antivirus products.

Firewall : www.zonealarm.com Free software firewall
For Spyware removal
ADAWARE from www.lavasoftusa.com
AND also get
SPYBOT from www.spybot.org
Use them as a team, update before scanning, run Adaware, then spybot roughly monthly
General PC maintainance and registry tidying
