80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

We don't need to live and we don't need to do all the things that we do.

Then again, maybe we do need to live and we do need to do all the things that we need to do.

It is a matter of choice, dear.

You are here in this world and you are taking up space. You are eating, drinking, and breathing the air that others also breathe. You experience the feelings of sadness and happiness that other people also, generally-speaking, experience. But nobody can really take these things against you because all people take space, eat, drink, breathe and feel.

So what do you do?

Will you ask yourself "Why do I need to live?" Or would you rather ask yourself, "What should I do to make this life worth living?"

The debates could go on forever. But in the end, it will always be your choice.

If you ask me, just enjoy your time and live as happily as you can with the people that care for you. Furthermore, be fruitful, productive, and/or useful to yourself and to others.

You know what, sometimes you don't need to look too far or look to high to see or understand why we need to live.

Sometimes, we can find our own answer to those big questions when we learn to love the people just outside our rooms.

Just my honest opinion. :-)

You don't need to. But I do just so I can make the most out of it, and have fun when I'm at it.

I mean, I'm here aren't I? So why not live and have fun? No point in sitting around and wasting your life.

We have been granted life, which is a precious gift. We cannot just let go of it, we have to abide to the rules of evolution of human beings. Even a dog knows that it has to reproduce so as not to let its specie become extinct. So, we, as human beings also have to do the same, plus, we enjoy life. So, we do everything we can to make our life and that of our children better
