Puh-lease help me. I have an original Nintendo DS, and my sister has a Lite. I'm not really jealous, but it really does make me feel a little when I see that her screen is lighter than mine. Is there any way I can change the brightness of my DS? Very bright...

the regular DS cannot get as bright as the ds lite.

the DS can only have the light on or off - there are no brightness levels - try it yourself, when you push the sun, the light goes on or off. only the DS lite has different brightness options

however, the brighter the backlit screen, the faster the battery dies.

nintendo's website [http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/dslite/trouble_power.jsp#last ] even states that after some 500 charges, the life of the battery starts decreasing.

therefore, yours will last longer before needing reparations

In the main screen where you see the calendar, game, time, etc.
At the bottom there's a little sun looking figure which you can click/touch that will change the screen's brightness level.

The original DS cannot adjust its brightness. It can only turn it on and off. Sorry, but there you go.

On the main screen there is a little sun in the bottom left corner. Keep touching it with your stylus until you get your desired light. Hope it helps!
