I havent been able to find the remote for years!

No, I grew up with a TV from the early 80's that had 13 channels, and the only way you could change it was to get off the couch and turn this dial that sounded like you were doing a poor job of shifting gears in an old manual transmission vehicle. It never really bothered me, so when I can't find the remote, whatever, there are buttons on the TV set for a reason.

last night I scoured the house for batteries to put in the remote rather than just going to the tv to change the channel

I'm not too lazy, I just don't know how to find the channel button on the T.V. How sad is that?!
