It's about AIDS. That's pretty much it. They released it as a free download in International AIDS day. It's about finding out you have AIDS, or somebody you love has AIDS, and just the tragedy that AIDS is in general. The video is heart-wrenching, showing all these little African children crying and such, it's so sad.
The Show Must Go On - Queen.
Very emotional. Freddie was dying of AIDS here. Hauntingly beautiful lyrics, a great melody and very powerful singing make this so....wow. I've never found a song as raw and powerful yet wonderful at the same time.
These Are The Days Of Our Lives - Queen
Oh wow. This song makes me cry. Especially the music video. Freddie was so sick and couldn't move. =[. Song is very...reminiscent? and makes you sad, and nostalgic.
Too Much Love Will Kill You - Brian May
A song about a man who is married and in love with his wife, but then falls in love with another woman. He's torn between the two because he loves both of them. It's killing him and he really doesn't know what to do, because he faces loss everywhere. Really emotional and sad. Especially because it's true. He wrote it during his divorce. Also sung by Queen, but Brian's version is much more powerful.
Let Me Live - Queen
This song is about a bad relationship. The other person just won't seem to give the singer a break. "All you do is take, and all I do is give". Powerful, sad and thought-provoking.
No-One But You (Only The Good Die Young) - Queen
Queen wrote this shortly after Freddie's death. The three remaining members of the band wrote it about him. It's very powerful, emotional and is a universal message. Almost everyone can think of somebody who died before their time.
Sorry that all these songs are Queen/members of Queen, but these are the saddest and most powerful songs I could think of. Four of these Six songs make me cry. Oh man. I need to go listen to my happy music. Mika, here I come.

Well Simple Plan has depressing songs but isn't that hard. Sick Puppies is heavy and has depressing lyrics. Also Staindis depressing and like a mid-heavyish. But if u wanted just a HEAVY band then Lamb of God, All That Remains, Job For a Cowboy, Killswitch Engage, Winds of Plague would be great.
