ACTUAL science-fiction? Discovery, in "2001: A Space Odyssey".
Star Wars is from my childhood and I love it, but it ain't sci-fi. It's goodies and baddies against a black background.

That would have to be the spaceship "Heart of Gold".
From "The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy."
It's powered by an Infinite Improbability Drive that causes it to pass through every point of space at once so you end up where you should be, though not necessarily where you want to be.
What a great TV series and movie!

The Shuttle! and the aborted X shuttle that was to replace it!
As much as I love Sci-Fi, the reality of what we work with is just fascinating to me!
