Ok, if I take time to think about it, I'm sure this is not the "best" thing that has happened to me but its the first thing that popped into my head when i read the question. And it didnt happen to me, but was an amazing experience at the time.
There's a place called Lazy 5 ranch where you can drive your car on this trail and wild animals will come up to your window and you feed them out of this bucket they give you at the beginning. It was amazing to hand feed giraffes and buffalo and all these things that i never thought i woudl come so close to, no less feed by hand through my car window lol.
