Either one is fine. People have all kinds of majors when they go to medical school. I know a doctor who studied music first. You should take pre-med classes, though, such as anatomy, and if you are interested in a certain specialty in medicine you might want to focus your major on that. For example, if you are interested in being a psychiatrist, neuroscience would be a good choice.

I will be graduating with my B.S. in Psychology next december, and have plans on applying to medical school. The major is not that important, taking the required courses, and having some exposure to the medical field is what schools are looking for now. Even though medical school may be a bit off for now, start looking at the requirements for the schools you are interested in...or if you dont know where to start from, try looking at the requirements for the big schools (Duke, Wake Forest, Emory, Chapel Hill, etc.) and use their information as a basis for your studies. Best case scenario is that you will have the right amount of preparation for the bigger schools, and be well prepared for the smaller schools.
Good luck!!
