It changes. Used to be a long drive. I'd take some favorite music and deliberately take a long cruise through the county roads and see some countryside that maybe I had never seen or hadn't seen in awhile. Best in warmer weather cause eveything's green and alive. And everybody still waves in KY, you know.
It changes, different ideas for different days, but being outdoors is the key. The fresh air and daylight revitalize you. Seems like it works just as well as any pill on the market (better!) It's just automatic. Only takes maybe 20 minutes and it's kickin' in and you don't even realise it because your mind is thinking good thoughts. Like, "I could call a friend a do some great Mexican food right now." or "Those folks really have a nice view of that big pond with all the ducks."
It's really all about getting out and noticing all the nuances in life.
The best medicine for when we all sometimes hit those low tides.

- GOD: prayer, reading scriptures, going to church, going to the temple <3

- My family & friends: they somehow always know just what I need. It's amazing.

- Laughing! Reading Dave Barry or other humorists, my favorite comic strip (a local one called F Minus), good cartoons, reading quotes and excerpts from my humor journal (a collection of old chat logs, funny experiences, & hilarious quotes from friends), etc. If I force myself to laugh, it's not long before I FEEL like laughing, and those endorphins are a natural boost -- miraculous!!!

- Sometimes I just have to wallow, & when I do, I'm not gonna lie, I do use retail therapy sometimes, on a small scale. : P I eat ice cream & chocolate, listen to sad songs, cry a lot... Then get over it. The tears help, especially. I'm a big believer in the healing power of crying, when appropriate. It's cleansing for my soul. Helps me make a fresh start. : ]

- LOTS of hugs, from anyone & everyone! My friends are great huggers. Also, snuggling with my kitty, getting jumped on with big doggy kisses from my dogs (they're ALWAYS excited to see you! It's great for the ego :D), receiving a love note or 'heart attack' from some perceptive person... That sorta thing.

- Being creative. Scrapbooking, fingerpainting, or playing with Play-Doh. WRITING, especially, and singing. So therapeutic!

- Spending time with my babies! My nieces and nephews are the BEST medicine for the blues. It's impossible to be unhappy with them around! And they're great companions for the fingerpainting & Play-Doh. ; )

- Nature. Being outside in the sunshine. Swimming in our pool, or other exercise -- like I said, I'm a HUGE fan of endorphins!!!

- Doing something nice for someone else, writing in my gratitude journal -- reminding myself of all I have to be grateful for really makes every problem seem so much smaller!, and sometimes something as simple as a good nap can give me a cheerier perspective. : )

Just taking some me time....a long, hot, relaxing bubble bath usually does the trick.
