No worries hon, I thought as soon as I lost mine I would go into labor.. no such luck. It was a little over a week later before I had my son, and he was 10 days over my due date. Relax, cause believe me you will need it. Good luck, and congrats.

It is actually more normal to loose your mucus plug up to a week before you actually start labor. With my first son, I lost my plug and didn't actually start labor until 5 days later and with my second I lost the plug during labor. With my new baby (3 months old now) I had a scheduled c-section and the plug wasn't an issue.
Loosing the plug is really just a sign that you are getting close..make sure you have your bags packed and try and get some rest. The show will soon begin. COngratulations and best wishes.

Not true...I've known people who have had bloody show and haven't delivered for up to 2 weeks after. You only are "expected" to go right into labor after your water breaks. Bloody show can come in so many different ways but it doesn't tell you you have this much time to go. I've been losing mine slowly for almost 3 weeks now. But if I had to put a guess on it you wont be waiting too long...maybe a couple more days! Don't worry, the baby will be here soon :o)

I thought it was after your water breaks that you can expect to go into labor within 24 hours. Loosing your plug and bloody show is an excellent sign your labor will begin soon (even though neither one happens to everyone). I think it is quite common for labor not to begin right afterwards though.
I kick-started my labor by staying on my feet for a good hour and a half, it was against my will (I went to the grocery with my mom and she took forever) but well worth it. Congratulations!!

there is no hard and fast rule about anything in pregnancy. Just because you lost your plug doesn't mean anything is going to happen. I lost mine at 39 weeks with the first and I still had to be induced at 40w1d. However I lost it the day I went into labour with my second.
Don't worry about it. Your baby will let your body now when it is ready to be born and that is when contractions will start, not before. Losing your plug is a good sign that your body is starting to do its thing but it doesn't mean anything is going to happen today, tomorrow or the next day.
Hang in there and get plenty of rest while you can.
Good luck

I know everyone is different but I lost my mucus plug back on 12/14, and I am still not in labor. I guess you can loose it in pieces, at different times, etc. I am pretty sure you should be going into labor any minute though!! Try some walking around, and Good Luck!

I never had that, so I really don't know. The only thing my OB told me was to call her when and if I lost my plug. I think that does mean you'll go into labor soon though. I just happened to break my water first, heh.

i never lost my plug. Go for a walk though and maybe that will speed up the process. But if i were you, i'd just tell your hubby to watch the kids and you're taking a nap!
