I do now...yesterday I was talking w/a friend & they were saying how they are sick. I said I haven't been sick in a long time....I should have knocked on wood, cause I woke up today w/a sore throat & the sniffles & it's only getting worse
=(
As for the bad luck superstisions, my luck can't possibly get any worse than it already is, so I have no problems opening umbrellas in the house

I believe in the uncertainty (good luck / bad luck) of life. Even in science, the knowledge of uncertainty of things has been knowledge (if you want to explore more about the science point
of view, research the Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, which states that its impossible to know the position and velocity of an electron at the same time and if we can't even determine that, how is it possible to determine more complex systems with absolute exactitude (necessary for a law). So do I believe in superstitions, no but I believe in luck...

I don't open an umbrella in the house, I don't walk under a ladder, I throw salt over my shoulder--but I have 2 black kitties who cross my path several times daily--go figure!!!

Superstitions are fun too make up and make people like you actually believe in them. Don't worry your not the only one who believes in them. Really its just another thing to believe in and when this takes place in the mind and heart we start to believe in it. It can get to acting weird at first but people warm up quickly to new ideas. Expecially when that beaver crosses a big tree trunk. Be aware that these example can be deceiving at first. Just use your common sense and intuiton to guide you.

I knock on wood. I have tried not too because a part of me thinks it is silly, but my mom and my grandmother always did it so I have to do it or I just don't feel right.
