Thank you! This question takes me home. I love to bring my 4 year old to small mountain trails. Being born and raised in the mountains, I try to get out there as often as I can. We went for a drive and a small walk to the creek just this morning.

I live in the middle of a state forest reserve so my dog and I walk all the time. Right now its been hunting season so we've stayed out of the woods, even on my own land.

In back of my stone wall is a stream and I enjoy walking along that, especially when the Springtime comes. Often I'll see and hear various types of woodpeckers . If I'm fortunate I'll see the Pileated woodpecker that lives somewhere along my property. He's a big one and a real beauty. There are black bear around and every so often they show up in my yard looking for birdseed, but I've never seen any while I've been walking. I love the woods and that's home to me.

This morning. I walked through my woods, as I do almost every day, to look at the trees, nature, the plants that are already awakening for spring. This morning I was looking at the ice storm damage, and what trees could be saved, but I was also looking at the Harbinger of Spring that is already poking its fresh green thru the leaf mulch on the woods floor, at the carpet of corydalis in the path, at the ferns and other plants that stay evergreen, listening to the birds, and just enjoying being outside on a mild winter day.

I really should plan some time to walk in the woods soon; this is the best time of year to be outside in Florida.

My last long walk in the woods was this past May. I visited eastern Ohio and West Virginia with my parents and sister. My dad and I visited the site of his family's old homestead and farm. The property is owned by an oil company now; but one of my cousins got permission for us to walk around. We spent 6 hours walking up and down the hill, through meadows and woods, along creeks and around an old coal mine and the old oil wells. We found my great-grandmother's old 'rock garden' and there were flowers blooming! It rained off and on all day, and we picked our way through poison ivy and poison oak.....but it was worth seeing my 75 year old dad acting like a kid again.

All my life I've been drawn to the woods. The peacefulness, the beauty, the rich scent of the plants and ground is wonderful. I spent a lot of time walking through the woodlands. Then I had a hip replacement thirteen months ago and I haven't walked ANYWHERE since then.

I take my dog walking in the woods almost every day. Love the peacefulness of it. I love listening to the birds, the trickle of water through the stream, the sound of the trees when there is a slight breeze. It's very relaxing...

I agree with Jack P, it hasn't happened yet.
I am an avid hiker, especially on the AT-Appalachian Trail, or any wooded area that attracts my attention. Me & my dog Geeps, have posted many a mile on mother natures woodland highways.
