The way European Union is ran, it will not be long before the people are slaves of the government. The EU is passing crazy laws everyday in Brussels that overrides anything that a member nation has on the books protecting it citizens from to the point of taking the country nationality(Euro Regions). With their system of selected government in 10 years Western Europe will finally realized that they have sold their nation and their freedoms to a government that doesn’t give a damn about them
I will put up with our high crime rate, our welfare system, SSI and the IRS any day over what is going on in Europe. At least my right to vote an official into office could change any of the problems that we may face.

What's wrong with good ol' American middle class, middle of the road politics.
Have you been to Europe lately? Who wants to live in cramped apartments with police who can kick down your door and crowds everywhere, no personal space, little refrigeration, and little deodorant--that's just the beginning. There's a rigid class structure there. Monarchs--what a hoot, who wants to bow down to some overblown Queen-bee remnant of a tribal chieftain. If you think Western Europe has the answers, pick a country--educate yourself--live there a while.

What's not to love?!? Come on! It's like a heaven on earth! Sure, the unemployment rate is over 10% nationwide and over 50% in some regions...and the miniscule growth rate reflects the contortions to which government expects business to submit. When by dint of hiring someone, you have effectively adopted him, the act of hiring takes on a permanence, and becomes an act into which one does not enter into easily.
And sure, maybe there's a problem with abandoning one's heritage in favor of a new and more PC pseudo-heritage of multiculturalism.
But all in all, Euro-lamd is heaven on earth!

My relatives all live in Europe and they are frustrated with the lack of opportunities. As my brother in law says, no matter how hard you try to get something of the ground, the government blocks you each step of hate way with enormous fees and Kafkaesque regulations. He and my sister would love to move here where opportunity exists for those who are willing to work really hard. They are tired of seeing almost half of their salary being taken away and given to those who do not want to work at all. There are a lot of those in Europe. No wonder that Europ is taking a hard right turn. Something really ugly is going to happen there.

I liked what I saw in Northern Europe, especially Holland, Germany, Switzerland, and Denmark. I just don't think America is ready for such intelligent solutions with our wild population, and as Europe's wild population grows, I don't know if they'll be able to maintain their comfortable standard of living. In southern Europe people seemed poorer and more conservative. These nuts that keep saying Europe is lacking in freedom are so brainwashed it's embarrassing.

Germany seemed really nice--women walking in downtown Munich with little fear of criminals. The streets were clean and the people were nice enough.
However --- they did not have any sense of urgency to do anything.
But on the negative side--unemployment is a lot higher in Almost every country in Europe--England I think is the only one with unemployment as low as the USA.
France and Germany are more than double.
Their GDP growth is twice as low.
and their healthcare systems seem to be on the verge of failing.
But the EURO seems to be doing better.
I think we should wait a little before we go and start following the Europeans--They seem like a bunch of timid little kids afraid to take risk.
Like they where in the 1920s and 30s

Western Euros have been drifting toward socialism for decades....sure they have free medical coverage over there, but the average income tax is like 50%+ and you don't get to chose anything, nor do you get an appointment to see your doctor for 2 months....
The system the Euros has sucks...socialism has no incentives for getting ahead....so unemployment is high.
Perhaps even more importantly, the Euros are totaly morally bankrupt. In most Euro countries, less than 10% of the people are Christians...in some places, radical Islamic pukes outnumber the Christians.
The Euro leadership sat by while Slobodon Milosavich slaughtered tens of thousands of Croatians and ethnic Albanians before America stepped in to stop the genocide. You'd think two world wars fought in Europe would have taught them something....but its America that save thier buts twice, and we did it again in Cosovo.
Europe is pathetic and weak and morally corrupt.
No way I want to emulate that!
Im glad I came to America from China.

No thanks. Live Free or Die. I'll not be a slave owned by the State. The Europeans seem content to live as slaves to their various socialist states. Maybe they all don't deserve that but the last I checked they voted for it so the majority of them do.

Incredibly high, chronic unemployment.
Government intrusiveness into all aspects of your life.
Huge poverty that the government pays for
and of course, the lack of private property ownership and high taxes to boot.
Last thought, with all their regulations and rules, their carbon emissions went up 4% over the past decade, while our dropped.
Yeah, let's be like THEM.
