Ty Cobb. Multiple batting championships and the highest paid player before Ruth came along. He was one of the few players who didn't have to hold down another job while playing baseball. Ruth came along at the right time to change the face of baseball, hitting 59 hr's in 1921 to help baseball fans forget the Black Sox scandal of 1919.

Ty Cobb..one of the greatest hiters ever.

sidestory about Ty Cobb...

He hated Ruth and all the attention he got. e also would tell people HRs are overrted and that anyone could hit HRs. (this was before HRs were considered the ultimate in baseball) to prove his point Cobb once changed his batting stance and style to a Ruthian style and hit 3 HRs in his next 4 ABs. The guy was a jerk but the man could hit and run.

Honus Wagner. THe guy was very impressive and still today is probably one of the most ignored legends around. You know how much a Honus Wagner baseball card is worth? A lot!

Honus Wagner... he had special days and clebrations thrown for him by not just his team (Pittsburgh Pirates), but the National League as well. He was the biggest star to be sure.
