As a retired teacher answering questions on Yahoo!, I guess I AM doing it free. But this is about you, and it's called burnout. (I burned out several times in my teaching career, but no one noticed, so I kept on teaching.) Have you thought about working for a tutoring agency like Sylvan? The students you would get there would be more motivated and interested--no blackboard jungle. Or have you considered getting another degree and seeking a college job? There, too, you would have more mature and motivated students (at least slightly so).

You probably thought teaching was something it is not. It is a fun and meaningful job when you are allowed to teach. Unfortunately there are many other things that keep you from teaching. There are very few if any jobs people would do for free. You might think about a position where you work with small groups rather than a full class.

You may just be at the wrong school. Ask yourself what is depressing you? Is it your subject, your student, your administration , your colleagues? First off understand teachers are there to teach the students who need help, if all the students were smart they wouldn't need you or pay you. IE FREE. Same goes for the administration etc. If you would do something for free its called FUN, not WORK. You can enjoy your work, you can love your work, you can be dedicated to your work, but its WORK. Professionals are paid to deal with and solve the problems. If there were no problems everyone would want the job and they wouldn't pay you.
