Not trying to pee/rain on anyone's parade but did you remember that there were two 15-1 NFL teams not to make it to the Super Bowl? The 1998 Vikings and the 2004 Steelers (that sucks because I am a Steelers fan) but anyways, every team has to survive the playoffs as well.

Just keeping it real.

Good point Ben! He has so much matured since then.

Reese, I wonder when another #6 seed will win the Super Bowl again? That could be another legacy.

People need to understand anything can happen in the Playoffs as the best of the best go head to head. Its not about numbers and stat comparisons its about making it happen

Put the 1983 Redskins on the list.

They finished 14-2, setting a record of most points scored and losing those 2 games by only 1 point. But they were embarrarsed by the Raiders 38-9 in the Super Bowl.

The patriots have a lot more experience and consistency in big games than those two teams as they already won 3 super bowls. And it takes more focus to win 16 straight than to have two winning streaks around one loss in the middle of the season to go 15-1, since once you lose the first one then there's no longer the pressure of opponents trying to spoil your run to perfection. No team other than the undefeated dolphins had even started a season 14-0. You're right that nothing is guaranteed, but experience matters more than the closeness of two teams' records.

in the playoffs it's win or go home. What has happened in the regular season is almost forgotten about. I think any team this year well about .500 has played their hearts out and those who in the wild card if they have gotten far enough to be in the playoffs. But like you said, ever team has to survive in the playoffs. Look at the steelers 2 season ago, # 6 seed and won the SB. Anything is possible.

The San Francisco Forty Niners had two 14-2 teams not make the Super Bowl. They lost in the conference championsip to the Giants in 1990 and the Dallas Cowboys in 1992.

I know. The Vince Lombardi trophy still isnt theirs yet. I think, when healthy, the Colts can hang with them, and possibly win. Thats about the only shot the rest of the league has is Indy. Maybe the Jaguars can catch them off guard and maybe just maybe, exploit the Patriots weakness (if you could even call it that) against the run. They would need Rashean Mathis to completley neutralize Randy Moss, but even then Wes Welker, Donte Stallworth and Ben Watson would be free to do as they pleased. I dont know if anybody can compete with them, unless they play absolutley PERFECT football and match everything the Pats throw at them. But, the only way to beat perfection is perfection.

The Pats are 16-0 not 15-1 so thats a difference right there, but the Pats will most likely win the Superbowl.

I agree i will think its great if they win the superbowl, your record in the regular season only has to do with seeding it doesnt give you a ring, great point to bring that up.

Plus steelers won as a 6 seed so you never know who is gonna win it.
3rd seed colts won it last year.
