Ouija board use and it's outcomes come down to intent. That is, they are neither good nor evil. You should have set up protection first (with your guides/guardians) before you used it and did some research prior to deciding to "play" it. These are not toys (nor a joke) and need to be respected regardless of whether you believe in spirits or not. Setting up protection beforehand prevents "after" spirit problems. Cleanse the house and send the spirit back into the light. Let the spirit know that it is not the right place for them to be lurking with you. Alternately, this may be your imagination over-reacting because of what you did. Now, put the ouja board away and stay away from things that you do not comprehend.

Playing with jumping jacks can be dangerous. (fall into the pile and have one stick in your eye.)

Playing hopscotch can be dangerous (slip, fall and break your leg.)

Playing with barbie's can be dangerous (create an impossible role-model that the child can never live up to, and spend the rest of their life trying to compensate.)

Playing kick the can can be dangerous (depends on where you run and hide.)

Point being, just about anything you do can be dangerous. And ouija boards are more dangerous to a person's psychological state of mind than they are anything else. If the spirit world was really that pourous to begin with, and that full of malevolent spirits waiting to cross over (ignoring all the positive ones,) I doubt there would be anyone left alive to play with the thing.

Turn on the lights, play some fun music, laugh alot. Not only do bad spirits hate happiness and laughter, it will make you and your friends feel better.

Oddly enough, I think it can. Have had many experiences with people who have used it, and none good.
I'm not sure about this, but I did hear that the company who makes monopoly started making ouija boards a long time ago, but then banned them after the owners daughter had a bad experience.
But anyway, I don't believe its spirits, but your own minds playing the tricks. The best way to reverse it, get on your knees and pray to God, even if you are not religious. Explain what you did, from your heart, and explain that you are sorry, and right away, you will feel better, promise. (but you've got to mean it)

I honestly cannot believe some of the replies to this question, it is one thing to show respect to peoples beliefs but something totally different when these beliefs border on psychosis these are the type of people who, no matter how often a myth is debunked, say,-
" No it's wrong because my gran had a dream that she saw my mum having an accident and the next day she burned herself getting the roast out of the oven".
- This is how absurd the whole thing is, and is indicative of just how gullible people can be, so please don't allow yourself to be sucked into the whole charade. Each minor thing is magnified and takes on a significance only because, much like the majority of the replies to this post, everyone believes - Oh you musn't mess with ouija boards cause they conjure up demons from hell which eat your soul and you'll have bad luck for a 1000 years. Puh-leeeze!
If strange thing are happening, and strange things do happen occasionally, it is down to our old chum coincidence. Your minds are taking 2 and 2 and coming up with 7. Just because the majority of these people are demented doesn't mean that you have to be, tell your friends to snap out of it and throw your ouija board in the bin because that and a lump of contempt is all it deserves, you are better than that.

Cool_jer and Paladin have the right idea. It's all in the mind and only as dangerous as you let it be.

Ouija boards were first patented as a children's toy, but have been adopted as a way of 'getting in touch' with the other side by peddlars of paranormal dribble.

The theory is that the spirit of a dead person guides the movement of a planchette, through the minds of the participants who have their fingers on it, and 'spell' out a message.

This can very easily be disproved by one of two methods, the first one is simple, you just blindfold the participants, the messages are obviously gibberish, or are the spirits blindfolded as well?

The second is a bit more complicated but very effective.
You replace all the letters on the board with a numbered code, then in the next room out of sight of the participants, you hang a sheet of paper with the code on.

If there really are spirits, they can see this code, again ,obviously the results are gibberish.

It is my personal belief that it can be dangerous yes. I have never done ouiji board and never will, i have seen some disturbing things happen to people who have, please see my previous answers to read about it. I am a spirtual person and i believe that if Spirit wishes to come to you they will when they are ready. The difference with Ouiji board is that the people taking part are not being respectful of Spirit they are summoning them from the other side and for me this is wrong. i believe when spirit passes to the next realm it does so to reccuperate and rest and waking anyone from their rest is kinda rude. Like i say its my belief that Spirit should be the one to choose if and when they come.
Try not to worry im sure nothing will come of it and there is no sense in worrying until it does, if it does.

Bright Blessings and i hope you have a great New Year

i get the feeling your kind of young.. it would be best not to use it. but.. if you must.. use them outside of your normal living area.. in a separate room or out side. never say please or give me a sign or show me.. just ask your question. also it would be a good idea to first pour salt on the ground in a circle.. white chalk should work too.. but not as safe.. then light a white candle and set it on the line.. say softly in a calm but serious voice " only in here.. or only in this circle.. or only as i permit.." the last one i prefer. use the board in the circle.. when you are done say " be gone " and blow out the candle and erase the circle...

this will make it safer ..never EVER summon what you cannot dispel.
if you already have there are somethings you can do but the easiest is to not focus on the spirit and (even though i don't my self) pray you dont have to pray to any god simply pray
say please make it leave.. please help me...
using an ancestors name can help too.

I have always been told it can open portals to the other side..but then its all in the mind....and how you perceive it. Personally I dont hold too much in a ouija board....its more fun than fact....however, I am a believer in much of the mythology and folklore tales.....again..its all in how you train your mind to think.....the mind can be just as dangerous as you let it be...so always be alert to that....

Back in the 50's, some like-minded drinkers in a pub decided to give the Ouija Board a go. Within the year, most had committed suicide. (Nationally reported case in all the Rags!)

My Maw-in-Law decided to try one on her own. After five minutes, she had packed it in its box and threw it up into the loft! It remains there, untouched, some 5 years after she passed away............ about 30 years later!

When you play a ouija board you are asking unseen entities for answers to your questions. By doing this you are opening a door and inviting them in. You may not want some of the ones that come through.
