-I have tried system restore to an earlier date and it won't let me.
-My virus protection was turned off somehow, and when I try to reinstall I have to restart in regular mode to complete the installation. When I log in, my computer freezes.
-I cannot save files to cd, not sure why it won't let me.

Questions:
No dvd burner, but is there another way to save files so I don't lose everything during a complete restore?
If this is windows trojan, there is no patch to debug. I am not computer savvy enough to go through my system root. Anything else work for anybody out there?
Am frustrated by my lack of knowledge and procrastinating about backing up my documents!!!

1) you should still be able to use a USB flash drive to backup your files.
2) if system restore won't work, first make sure you can boot from CD - if you're having a hardware problem, you don't want to start restoring the PC and not finish.
3) aside from the start menu, you should be able to launch system restore from safe mode. Normally, windows will prompt you on whether you want to launch system restore once the desktop finishes loading in safe mode.

You might try AVG or Adaware 2007 on a floppy run in safe mode exe in safe mode . If you know the virus download the tool. System restore will probably restore the virus

dude.....here you go:-

for antivirus.....use avast antivirus...it has on access protection which doesn't even allow the virus to enter the system....suppose you are downloading something and say it is a virus or it contains a virus....then avast would detect it and the connection would be terminated.......for home use...registration is free with updates!!!

for avast antivirus:- www.avast.com

now download and install the antivirus in safe mode itself......then after the installation is complete the avast installer will ask you to conduct a boot time scan...you do it and the problem is detected and you can delete it!!!

OTHER SECURITY TIPS!!!

now coming to adware:-
use ad-aware 2007.....it is also free for home use an dis very efficient in removing ad wares!!!

for ad-aware 2007:-
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_a...

now coming to spyware:-
use spyware doctor...you can obtain it for free from google pack.

for spyware doctor:-

http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_inst...

now coming to your browser:-

use mozilla firefox only and do not use internet explorer as mozilla firefox is very much secure!!!

It is also free and is available for download through google pack for which the link has been already quoted by me above.

Doing all this makes yer laptop with 100% security!!!
