I know this is a rediculous question, and I probably know better than to think this way but I've always been somewhat of a hypochondriac, so here I am asking:
Sometimes when I am doing my math homework, I try to do the hardest problems in the text, the ones that involve hard thinking.. anyway, I find that when I am pondering these problems I start to literally feel preasure in my brain (maybe its because I make myself believe it) is this bad?

I think I read this somewhere but I might be imagining it..however...
When you learn something entirely new, or you think something you've never thought before, your brain literally is making new paths and that's what you're feeling.
I'm probably using all the wrong terminology, if I'm even right about the idea in the first place.
I just know that I've had it happen to me. I have a very intelligent friend who comes up with some of the most interesting theories and questions...and sometimes when I find myself trying to understand what he's said, or what he's asked... my brain literally hurts! lol
It only happens with this one friend though, sadly. I need more brilliant friends to hurt my brain! lol jk ;)
Anyway, what was my point? oh yeah. I think there is something to what you experience, but no I don't think thinking too hard is bad for you, i think it's good for you actually.
And I find it interesting that you call yourself a hypochondriac, a lot of "sensitives" identify themselves as being a hypochondriac because they don't realize what they really are.
A sensitive is more likely to feel the stuff going on in their brain than other people because...like the word implies...they're more sensitive ;)

Ease up on yourself a little here. It will help you think more clearly and be able to solve those difficult problems more easily. The sensation of pressure in the head when you're doing some heavy thinking is normal; but I still advise easing up a little. Heavy thinking, by the way, will not make you dumber.

The "brain ache" you feel is most likely tension headache. You won't hurt your brain no matter how difficult a problem you try to solve, it is very good to exercise the brain however, if you aren't relaxed when working these out, then your muscles are affected - hence tension - hence pain. When you start to feel this, go back to easier questions and come back to the difficult ones again later. Or breath deeply to release the tension

I think the aching brain syndrome from thinking too deeply is responsible for a great many theist minds. If you are to blindly follow a faith it obviates the need to think and thereby lessens any mental pressure.

No, they always say your brain is a muscle the more you use it the stronger it gets, so just think of it as weight training with your brain that uses knowledge as the resistance.

No thinking to hard cannot make you dumb.
And your brain itself does not have pain receptors. If you could open your head up and poke yourself in the brain, it wouldn't hurt. What is hurting is the muscles on your head, between your skull and skin. That is also what hurts when you have a headache.

maybe your brain isn't used to the way you thought. Maybe if you think about more advanced things, you'll learn better and your brain will evenutally get used to it... other than that... idk.
