I was looking for a more indepth explanation if rolling the tongue can be learned, even if you didn't genetically inherit it.

By rolling the tongue I mean making the sides of your tongue touch eachother to form a tube-like shape. NOT the trilling that is needed for languages! thanks!!

I was unable to trill. After practicing and learning spanish, I now trill perfectly. The trick is to use your breath and not your toungue muscle alone.

I have also heard recently that some people think thats some people find it difficult to roll their tounges, but it could actually be learned and so its not genetic like previously thought.... I have no idea if this is true or not but I found it very interesting and wonder if there is an element of truth to it.

Ability or inability to roll the tongue has to do with the anatomy of the tongue. Can you learn to have brown eyes if your eyes are blue? Neither can you learn to roll your tongue. It's inherited.
