The screws in my toilet lid are rusty and cause rust to flake off on the toilet. How do I stop this ?

They make screws out of brass and or plastic either will work, these can be purchased at the hardware...

Get a new toilet seat with plastic screws.

Ir you can't get the rusty bolts off, brush clear polyurethane onto them to encapsulate the rust,

Either replace them or clean them off and coat with fingernail polish - several coats.
