Oprah Winfrey, Ricki Lake, Kate Winslett, Kirsty Alley etc have all had good careers despite the fact that they are larger than stick thin. Of course film makes people look bigger than they are, but there are parts for all shapes and sizes. Despite the fact that she is really small (I saw her once), Renee Zelwegger has to put weight on to play Bridget Jones. If being skinny is natural for you, then great, if not, then it is up to you to decide how comfortable you are with your body. I suspect that depending on the role, some actors are asked to put on/lose weight.

I have been doing theater since I was 8. At times I think I might have gotten certain parts had I been a skinny girl, but I am really glad I never gave into that pressure. While some parts require a certain look, TALENT and willingness to work is much more important. Costumes and make up can make you look like anything they want, but you can't pull talent and work ethic out of a box.

There are roles for all shapes, sizes and colors of people in acting. Just look at Broadway shows, TV and movies. Is everyone skinny? No. Are they all earning a paycheck? Heck yes!

It is best if you are in the weight range for your height and age. Film actresses tend to be thin because the camera makes you look a bit heavier than you really are.
