The more I clean, the more I see needs to be done. There is always something not clean enough, the floor, the glass, the yard, the car, I am killing myself and it still looks the same. I work full time but I have been off for a week and have had no relaxation.

I can some what relate to you. I became a neat freak germaphobic woman over night and before that I did not care what my house looked like. A few months ago I broke down and cried for like two hours because my spouse put the glass baking dishes in the wrong spot even though there was a label there that specificaly states where the dishes go....it was then that I realized I had a problem. Our home can be spotless but if I know that company is coming I will stay up all night and clean the night before. I vacume everything from my couch to my ceilings and I even clean the air vents with a q-tip. Do I have OCD, no!! I simply want a clean house but I was going about it the wrong way. Breaking your back to have a clean house is not the answer. Sit down and make a schedule. For example Monday, wash floors and clean bathroom Tuesday , dust and vacume and etc.....this way everything is spread out and you wont feel so overwhelmed doing it all at one time. If you are so stressed maybe you should think about bringing in a part time housekeeper to help you keep up with things. Take it from someone who loves to clean, nothing will ever be perfect, just do the best you can and be done with it. If you find after making some changes that you still have the same feelings then maybe you should seek some counseling because there could be deeper issues there such as OCD....either way changing the way we think is not easy but with consistancy and a positive attitude it is possible.

I had a similar incident happen with us and we finally just moved. I hope it doesn't have to come to that with you and your family but it may. I agree with the other answers that what she is doing is and should be illegal. It's difficult to bring a slander case against someone but definitely not impossible. I would suggest you contact you local police department and let them know what is going on and see if there is anyway to have some sort of mediation set up between the two of you. If nothing else the police officer can come to your home and let you both know what your rights are under the law regarding fire pits, 4 wheelers, video taping and slander. NO ONE should be a prisoner in their own home and while she sounds completely crazy, you both should be able to live in peace. Sometimes having an objective party, like a law officer, to mediate between the two of you can help you reach an agreement regarding the issues that are going on. Don't say anything to her or give her any reason to continue. Don't even look in her direction. If you want to sit on your porch, sit on it but be courteous. Live your life and treat her as you wish she would treat you and make sure the rest of your family does the same. Maybe she'll move on to something else or get over it, maybe not. Don't let it consume you the way it has consumed her.

Oh....don't torture yourself dear!!!
Leave the house and go to the park for a nice walk..carry you a nice picnic get a good book and find you a good place to Relax,Breathe, and Read!!! or do some Meditating,..and just leave that house for a while!! You don't own the house, the house owns you it sounds like...
I've been there, and felt the same way as you have posted!! 5 yrs of my life (19yrs. old to 25 yrs. old)
And yes!!!!!!!!! like someone else posted!!

You need to find a hobby that does not require something to be cleaned. I you are spending all of your time cleaning then you are not living your life to the fullest and that my friend would be tragic. I like things picked up so I can walk without tripping and cook a meal and eat at my table but everything else can wait until I am finished spending time with friends and family.

You will never win....trust me. It will never be as clean as you want or put together as perfect as the other lady. It just never will be. I learned to just laugh at the things that aren't perfect and be grateful for them. Afterall, it gives your home character. Besides, those houses that are straight out of Southern Living magazine aren't really lived in. You want a home, not a house!

try to feel comfort in your own house
try not to touch anything when you feel you have done anything even you feel that something is not well yet
try to take your time, maybe you have to used to take a rest
try to talk to someone about your problem, it might be a serious psychology problem, but i don't think so its good to be a perfectionist in some cases but maybe not in this cleaning-stuff-cases, you may be soo tired you cant even feel your feet and then you will have another problem with your health condition

don't forced yourself to do something when you have done it before

try to feel satisfy to yourself and never underestimate you work

Sounds like you're a Compulsive "neatnik". It's NOT the messiness of your House that's the Problem- it's the "messiness" in your Head. Once you get THAT straightend up- your House WILL be "perfect". TALK to someone about your Compulsiveness...-Or it really COULD kill you.... It's a problem that usually gets WORSE -NOT better.

You might have a problem that never lets you succeed. Sounds like obsessive compulsive disorder. I would use those terms on webmd and if you plug that in to the search box and it pulls up what sounds like things you are thinking and doing, contact your doctor for advice.
