You need to have a back up career to fall back on. YOur Mum is right. You are way too young to be deciding that you want to be an actress. You need to stay in school and get some skills, because most actors and actresses never ever make any money from it.
When you are older, you will understand that housing, food, and clothing all cost money -- a lot of money. Acting isn't exactly a regular income. Most actors would need one or two other jobs, usually in food retail or some other low paid industry, just to keep a roof over their heads.
If you have a good education and some skills, you can get another job and try acting as a hobby on the side. Then, if you do get a big break, you can just quit your other job.
Don't think for a moment that you'll make it as an actor. Thousands of people don't. There are no guarantees in that industry, widespread unemployment, and plenty of rejection. You may be rejected from every audition you ever go to. That will hurt you badly.
Seriously, take my advice. Keep acting as a hobby and get a good education. This will allow you to support yourself, and give you the opportunity to try acting as a career.

SUre you can start anytime but you have to love the life.
Hard work, long hours, miserable conditions, low pay or no pay.
If you become big the pay gets higher, but the conditions always remain the same.
You're alwasy doing 12-14 hour days
They dump water on you, put exposive charges on you, you run, you fall, you climb into trash bins.
You're asked to run down two flights of fire escape stairs on a real building.
You get in and out of real helicopters (and yes there are fatal accedents that happen all the time when someone walks the wrong direction or stands up too tall).
If you're unfortunate to get into TV work its 12 pages every day for a soap opera, 5 work days a week.
A series shoots for 12 weeks straight and you generally work 3-5 days each week, then it's a month off then 12 more weeks then 2 months off.
Soaps are 8-10 hours, but series work is 10-14 hours each day.
And a movie can mean 2 months in New Zealand in the hot time of year or the cold time of year, outdoors in the tundra every day for 14 hours doing something like Pitch Black.
And you go back to the hotel each night by 10 pm and get woken up at 5 am to drive out to location by 7 am.
This starts out with base pay of $5,000 a week for 7 weeks ($35,000) then unemployment until it runs out and yu are looking everywhere for work.
Even at $50,000 a week that kind of work is not easy.

Of course there's still time be pursue acting! There are people who don't start until very late in life.
You get to choose what career you want to go after, not your parents. Sure, your parents can make it harder for you. You may have to pay for your own schooling and do it without your direct support, but don't make the mistake of picking a career because it's what your mom wants. You'll just end up unhappy and resentful in the end.
And yes, of course - always have a back-up plan as acting isn't steady work! Study acting, but gain some good business skills too!

You cannot be a professional actress without your parents' approval until you are 18. Labor laws, you know. Most parents are afraid of their children entering the unstable and immoral field of acting, but most parents are uninformed about it. They just want their children to have a good life. You should be participating in all the speech and drama stuff at school and if you are really good at it someone will tell your mom and she may beging to change her mind.

Do absolutely all of the acting that you can. School plays, workshops, and read plays (go tho the library) and try to "act out" one of the characters.
Learn a second language or two as well. More opportunities that way.
And, no offense, but learn how to wait on tables too, because that's how you're probably going to make a living until you get your big break.

i say, if you're really passionate about acting, just do it. 15 is a great age ( you definatly have time ) =]. as for your mom, if she really wants you to be sucessful, show her you can do it. first, have a talk with her and say that acting is something you really want to do. tell her that you want chances to show her you can do it. good luck, sweetie!
