I think you're too used to young players making the jump up so fast...
For every one Anze Kopitar, Sidney Crosby, or Patrick Kane (guys who make the jump straight to the NHL) their are about a dozen guys who don't... Guys like Bobby Ryan, Kyle Okposo, and Al Montoya.
If I'm not mistaken, Esposito is currently playing for the Québec Remparts. That's still a step below the Penguins AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Last year at some point, he was considered the best junior prospect and by draft day he slipped to the #20 spot. My thinking is, a first round draft pick should have been able to crack team Canada's junior squad. It looks like they drafted the next Alexander Daigle instead of the next Crosby.

Angelo Esposito has not signed an NHL contract yet, nor can he be called up as part of the CHL/NHL agreement
Unless there is an emergency, no CHL player can be called up top an NHL roster after the NHL team has played 10 games! Once the CHL season is over, any CHL player who has signed an NHL contract can play for the NHL team or it's top affiliate.

I would love to give Esposito a chance. He was a great draft pick for us, and we were very fortunate to get him at number 20. But he was cut from team canada just recently, and I am not sure if he is quite ready for the NHL, but I'd like to see it as a fan.

he can't be called up he's not in the minor leagues. Plus the guy could even make the canada juniors. I'm telling you he's not all he's cracked up to be.
