I think if they lose the SuperBowl than the record doesnt even matter. You gotta win it all for it to be significant.

Im with you 100%. If the Pats don't win the SuperBowl this year then they are a disgrace. It's like the undefeated dolphins. They had to win that year cuz they went undefeated. Like the 86 Mets, they had to win that game against Boston cuz the mets were this bad-a$$ group of guys and they had to prove they weren't all talk. Plus they had over 100 wins. Never mind baseball... yeah, if the pats don't win, then they really suck. The first answerer is right and that guy that called u and jets fan, MUST be a Pats fan, (arrogant, stupid, pats bandwagon)

well the record will always be talked about but without a super bowl win i think they will be viewed as failures. it's like the 98 vikings: set the single season points record (which was broken tonight by the pats), went 15-1 but all anyone remembers is nick lowery missing that fg to force ot and let the falcons win it.
p.s. and there will always be a stigma associated with this team because they were proven to be cheaters. i doubt very seriously that it was an isolated incident and i think the punishment was pathetic at best. they should have had to forfeit the game and all stats compiled during the game just like they do in european football when cheating is uncovered. otherwise it's not even a slap on the wrist.

I agree with you...i mean their names will be remembered but it will be for all the wrong reasons. They will be considered to have the greatest regular season of all time and ppl would probably call it the greatest choke or meltdown of all time if they dont win it. I dont believe that is true but if they do not go undefeated throughout the playoffs and win it all then the record means nothing, its insignificant and no one will care. I would rather go 9-7 and win the SB than go 16-0 and lose it...

I think that the Patriots probably do feel that way. To go 16-0 is one heckuva an accomplishment without a doubt, but if they don't win them all, it will leave a bitter taste in their mouths. Records are fantastic but everyone's ultimate goal even before the season starts, is to win the Sper Bowl.

going 16-0 is a great feat but to match what the Dolphins did they'll have to win the superbowl

They will own the record of a perfect season then blowing it in the superbowl.

Exactly. Dolphins were 17-0, INCLUDING the Super Bowl. If the Pats don't match that, they've got nothing.

The purpose of every team in the NFL is to win the super bowl, anything less is meaningless, the players themselves will agree on that

No. They just can get the regular season undefeated tittle. Super Bowl is everything in NFL.

A better question is, how much are the Pats going to win the Super Bowl by?
