There is no such thing as a "tea cup pig" as some advertise. With the smallest pot-bellied pigs, they still get pretty big. They don't really eat a lot and you have to be careful to keep them from being an unhealthy weight. They can be litter box trained like a cat, but pigs poop a lot so they need to be able to go outside. The ideal situation would be for them to be able to be inside and outside so they can take care of their potty needs outside if at all possible. They really need a bit of a "wallow" so again, ideally, you need to have a bit of property so they can root about in the soil and behave like a pig. Pigs are highly intelligent and easily trained. When they are babies, they are so so very cute and I think they stay cute to some degree. I know people who have great pigs as pets. A couple of my college friends had pot-bellied pigs as pets and they were so smart and so cute, really great pets, lots of fun but lots of work. We have a pig rescue close to my house and they can't keep up with all the pigs that need placement. People get these cute, tiny little babies but when they reach 250 pounds, they can't handle them anymore and tend to dump them. Recently, the rescue had to move because they needed a larger area due to the unbelievable demand they had. So, I would urge you to do lots of research and make sure that you have the proper living space so the pig can have enough space to live a piggy life. Again, they can be inside-outside but just make sure you are ready to meet the commitment that is needed for a pig. If you can, check it out and see if there is a pig rescue in your area so that you can visit and get a close look at what you are getting into. Good luck with your decision. If you have the space and time to dedicate to a pig, they can be great pets.

I think it died-out because of the

Yes! And everyone said they were smarter than dogs and said that pretty soon more people would want them instead of dogs! Yeah, right! I don't see pig being man's best friend anytime soon. Although I do enjoy a little on my plate at breakfast time. : )
