Wow! Your asking for a lot- and that's good! It's great you want to be a cheerleader! I will do my best to help you! =].

First off, you really should take cheerleding and tumbling lessons; go to this site: http://www.usgyms.net/ . It has a huge list of different gyms in all the different states. Click on your state under the gym directory and see if there is a gym close to you. You should take jump, cheer tech, stunting and tumbling classes.

Most schools have different requirements for their cheerleaders. Sometimes it can be very easy to get on the squad- and sometimes it's very hard. You should go to lessons to learn how to at least do a cartwheel, roundoff and walk-over. You should be able to execute at least a toe touch jump, herkie jump and hurdler jump. You will learn all of this in classes.

NEVER ATTEMPT TO LEARN TO TUMBLE WITHOUT THE HELP OF A PROFESSIONAL! It is dangerous!

Next, you should be able to do the splits- at least one is usually the minimum for somewhat competitive squads. Here is what I have instructed other people on Yahoo!Answers to do to get their splits quickly:

Make sure you do stradle stretches. Sit with your legs spread as far as they can before it hurts. Reach to one of your feet until it hurts a little, count to ten, and then go to the middle and do the same thing, and the other foot as well.

Now, the next good stretch is sitting on your butt, feet straight out in front of you. Reach for your toes and count to ten again. Do this twice, or three times if you can. Also, if you can have someone gently push on you, it would really get you to the splits quicker.

Next, the butterfly stretch! Sit on your but with the souls of your feet touching each other. It's kinda like a werid Indian style position. Then, try to touch your head to your feet. Go as far as you can go and hold it for ten secounds. Do this three times, coming up for a breather between each one. Then, press on your knees; try to make them touch the ground. Hold it for ten secounds, for three times.

Practicing your splits every day after these stretchs will help you immensly. Also practicing things like toe touches on a trampeline will help as well. This may be cheerleading stuff, but it will help you in all aspects of dance as far as flexibility goes.

ALWAYS PRACTICE YOUR SPLITS AT LEAST TWICE A DAY!

Having the splits down will help you on your jumps and your tumbling.

At tryouts, you need to wear Soffe shorts. This is the preferred short of most cheer squads. They are about $8 and you can buy them online at http://www.soffe.com/ . Make sure you have no hair in your face- it needs to be completly pulled back in a pony tail and hairsprayed so it doesn't fall. If it's short, wear a secure headband. No jewlry or long nails. Both can hurt you or someone else while you are cheering and stunting.

Use a very loud voice, and SMILE! Be as peppy as possible! If you screw up, keep smileing anyways! Make sure you use sharp arm movements and "doughnut" hands- you will learn all that at lessons, but you can check out this picture to see how the girls do their hands: http://www.iusb.edu/~sbsac/img/clubcheer/hands.JPG

I know that if you work hard, you will make the team! Good luck!

Most of my answers are paragraphs long, however I'm in a hurry, but I really would like to help you :)

Just go to some of these sites:
http://www.mspineapple.com/
http://cheerleading.about.com/
http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/syws/cheerleader/cheerleader.html

You should definitely go in some tumbling/gymnastics classes. Maybe attend some cheerleading camps and clinics. Research it lots, google it, go to www.youtube.com search 'cheerleading stunting' or anyother term you know i.e. 'extension', 'cradle', 'double down'. Just be sure to add 'cheer' before everything you type in!

Stunting is the most important aspect of cheerleading along with tumbling, so be sure you not only know what its called, but how to successfully do it! You will impress your coach and team mates if you can stick it first try :)

Good luck + Happy New Year!

it takes a lot of practice and effort but u sound like you are devoted. so just practice the basic stuff and it would be great if you joined a cheernastics gym where you could learn how to tumble and jumps and motions they would teach you all that and be able to preform in front of a crowd because that is part of cheerleading and have confidants in yourself that you can do it.

Here is a site that can help you work on the basics. (You can't tumble or stunt at home, but you can work on certain drills.)
