Usually 4 years beyond the bachelor's as a minimum, but the Ph.D. is very variable, because some of it involves working on the dissertation, the timing of which is not always within the control of the student. It takes many people 6-10 years beyond the bachelor's to finish.

You have to start with a Bachelors degree. This usually takes 4 years (assuming you take the average load each semester). After a Bachelors you move on to a Masters degree. This usually takes another 2 years. From there you can do your Ph.D. There is no set time for this, it has more to do with when you complete your dissertation (research) and courses. It can take anywhere from 2-5 years. It also depends on what you are studying. So you need to plan for 8-11 years,
You can move through the process quicker by going to school year round and taking more courses each semester. Hope that helps!

It just all depends on if you're going for. Normally you have to get your Ungrad. or Bachelors degree, then your Masters, and then you finally enter into a Ph.D. program. And the big thing with getting your Ph.D., depending on the program you're in you have to write a Dissertation. Which is always the hardest part of your Ph.D. Normally it can take up to 8 to 10 years to get it. Just all depends on how long it takes for you to write your dissertation. Because you have to get a committee together for that, and do interviews, and write the paper itself. Which is around 100 pages or so.

There usually a 5 year limit, but you dissertation topic may affect how long it will take you to finish. You may have intensive research going. Check it out with your committee.

If you are like my son, then I would say 8-12 years.
(Drop the "d" from the word - college, and make it an even 10.)
