China has had suicide bombings before: but only as part of kamikaze military attacks in the 1949 Revolution.
Suicide bombing as a terrorist strategy was pioneered by the Tamil Tigers- the world leaders. From there it spread via the PFLP/PLO network around the world. There were no Chinese groups in this network.
Muslims in NW China have a very different mentality- largely due to the one-child policy. As a minority group they can apply for permits for a second and third child. This process tends to make the population extremely law-abiding.
In addition they have little to fight for:- they have no way to put pressure on Beijing, and are treated relatively well compared to other ethnic minorities. Smuggling and infiltration across the borders would be a lot more difficult if terrorists attracted official attention
Finally China maintains friendly relations with many Muslim nations.

There have been cases of suicide bombing in China...

However they appear to be quickly covered up by the Chinese authorities. In the case mentioned above it was initially stated that a disgruntled lung cancer victim decided to protest poor health care. BUT as the story progressed it became less apparent what the true motive was for this heinous act.
So in my humble opinion we get to hear or read very little of what is occurring in China (in particular).
In other Asian countries there are many reported incidences of suicide bombing - the most publicised being the recent assassination of Benazir Bhutto

In fact Pakistan has a history of such violent attacks...

And then in Indonesia there have been a string of suicide bombings...

It makes you realise that no matter where you are you may be caught up in these dreadful atrocities.

Superkitten - from what I understand Hari-Kiri or Sepukku is a form of Japanese ritual self-killing - and is not Chinese.

There is a lot of gov't control in china. People turn in neighbors for suspisous activity. The average person can not own weapons or buy a large variety of items.
It is probable that someone could steal most of the required items, but it is harder to do and in many areas there are travel restrictions (or were).
Unlike here and other countries, people there do not just up and quit a job and move to another city. Not quite that simple in a country where you need a permit to have a child.
It is only recently that foreigners have been allowed into china and they are not allowed to go anywhere. So your average mideast tourist would standout like a bright yellow sign.
Just a little harder to carry out a plan.

The Chinese don't f*ck around...they hold PUBLIC executions.
Terrorists in China would have difficulties more so than elsewhere.China is a major supplier of weapons and support and it just won't do to bomb your dealer..bad form all around.
If it did occur..the Chinese would not hem and haw about a response...The Dragon has fire.

China had suicide bombings. That they don't reported does not mean it doesn't happen.
And it still happens for a number of reasons. Muslim activism is not the main reason though.

Israel has its conflict with Palestinians.Palestinians bomb Israel, becuase they are psycho. Europe and the Us have their enemies. China has been China forever and nobody has anything against china. China has its inner city crime, but not a lot. The chinese are not agressive people, however they have a strong army.

How do you know China hasn't? Because the Chinese official news agencies haven't reported one?
Aside from that, radical Islam hasn't moved in there noticeably. The future may be another story.

No news agency in China would dare report it if there was one. All of the people involved would end up in prison.
Besides, China is deliberately staying out of the terrorism war. I don't think they allow Arabs into the country anyway, they have too many mouths to feed now.!!!!!
China isn't trying to spread democracy, it is a COMMUNIST country. NO democracy there. No reason for Al Qaida to attack them.
