Someone has a misperception about him. If he came from one of the sects that believes in plural marriage, he wouldn't be allowed to date you because you are an outsider. The Mormon Church denounces it, but there are different sects of the religion that branched off. However, it might not hurt to ask him if anyone in his family believes in this.

They are not bad people, in fact, most are really nice. They do have some beliefs that other people consider strange, but don't all religions? Don't let others tell you who you can have for friends. I think the multiple wives thing is very old, and the ones that still practice it have been disavowed by the Mormon Church.

Prejudice comes from ignorance. Obviously your friend is ignorant. Mormons believe God gave them a special message while they were in the desert of the western United States. If you want to compare, G.W. Bush believes God told him to invade Iraq.

Remember in the beginning of the Borat movie how ridiculous the people in his home town were when they were chasing the Jews? They had the giant paper machete heads and were throwing rocks and hitting them with sticks... This is how your friend thinks about Mormons.

Tell your friend she is ignorant and she needs to take her prejudice opinions far away from you. Don't let yourself be polluted by her.

There is a lot of prejudice against Mormons and a lot of misunderstandings about the Mormon religion. If you know a person who is a Mormon and you like her, you should not judge her based on her religion or based on what other people say about her religion. Not all Mormons are the same, just like not all people of any other religion are the same. You don't have to agree with someone's religious beliefs to be friends with them.

Some mormons, NOT ALL, practice polygamy (having more than one wife).

Most Christians frown upon the practice because the bible teaches monogamy. This doesn't make mormons bad, it just means their beliefs differ from that of other religions. If you have a mormon friend, don't let something someone else tells you dictate whether you stay friends with them.

All the ones that I've met are nice. I was talking to a couple of them that came to my house occasionally, but my husband ran them off. Maybe (hopefully) they'll come back and help me figure out this book I ordered that they recommended.

Because such people are uneducated and have very little
knowledge. Other several reasons are: they feel guilty as they
have many wives.....and many children....
