he only has 16 goals this year. I thought he was going to touch the 50 marker by this season's end. But it doesn't look like he will be anywhere near that. ovechkin now has 30!!

It's just because he's under pressure being the captain of the team and he needs to overcome that!Penguin fans have been blaming him for Pittsburghs slow start in the season!Hey, don't worry he's going to sky rocket soon but I think he'll be better than Gretzky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sidney Crosby is the best player in the NHL because of his play making ability and his vision he doesnt need to score with guys like Colby Armstrong and Evigini Malkin there to catch one of his passes and they put it in the back of the net

Ovechkin sits infront waiting for a pass and cleans up a ton of garbage he is a great hockey player and im not taking that away from him but he makes about 1 or two nice dangles a game and gets more trash goals than anybody in the NHL

Crosby goes out every night and works his butt of to get the Penguins a win and thats why hes is being paid 8.7 million bucks a year he is a much more consistant hockey player than Alex Ovechkin

Why must fans make people out to be something they aren't?
Why are you comparing Sidney Crosby to Ovechkin when it comes to goals?

Sidney Crosby is paid to help Pittsburgh win games. He is paid to create scoring chances. It doesn't mean he has to score them all.

Bobby Clarke scored 100 points several times in his career, yet never scored 40 goals.

Joe Thornton has never scored more than 37 goals in a season, and has 3 100+ point seasons.

Sidney Crosby is not a goal scorer. Every point he gets means a goal was attached. If gets 150 points, wins the Art Ross, and the Penguins win the Stanley Cup, and they are all assists..............would you be upset because he didn't score goals?

Were you upset because Adam Oates had 3 assists for every goal? Are you concerned about Marc Savard's lack of goal scoring? Or Jason Spezza's?

Every player in the NHL has a role to play, and Sidney Crosby's roll is to be a Bryan Trottier (who did have 1 50 goal season), Bobby Clarke, Adam Oates type player who reads the defence and finds the open guy!

Crosby doesn't take as many shots as Ovechkin does. Crosby is a playmaker, not a finisher. He sets up all of his teammates in scoring. Ovechkin takes shots on goal all the time (he leads the league with 207). I kind of respect Crosby more for that fact. He isn't looking for shining with scoring all sorts of goals. He sets up his teammates. He knows it's about the teams goals, not his own.

Ovechkin more of a natural goal scorer while Crosby is more of a complete player.

Crosby is still on in the top, just going through a slump.

Seriously guys, CROSBY IS NOT A SCORER. He is THE playmaker. He makes the perfect plays, and thats why he has many assist.
He doesn't shoot as much as he should, instead he passes it and lets someone else score. Honestly, he's had MILLIONS of great chances this season, but he does something that I'd like to see alot more players do...making plays.

Ok, and you people after I say this...don't yell at me or insult Crosby but Crosby is alot like Gretzky. They both are the playmakers.

Cause he's busy dropping the gloves...j/k. Actually, he's more of a setup man than a goal scorer, looking to make the pass to one of his teammates. Don't get me wrong, he can finish when he gets the chance to, but that really isn't his game as much as, say, an Alexander Ovechkin. He's more like...oh...Pavel Datsyuk...someone that's a brilliant playmaker rather than the feared sniper.

Sixteen is not exactly bad, either. Remember, Sid isn't a big 'shooter', he's more of a play maker. You rarely see Sid in the slot waiting for a pass, he's usually along boards trying to get control and make the play.

Also, I think because he hasn't played much with a play-making type winger in his career so far, that has probably hurt his goal totals, especially this year.

cause crosby is not a scorer he's a playmaker, and as previously mentioned ovie is at the top of the league in shots on goal and crosby does not take any where near as many

If you watched the game tonight you would have seen 2 good chances but he gave them both up so other players could score (colby armstrong and Evgeni Malkin) I think sidney has been doing good

Everyone guards him. They know that he had a huge breakout season and they will guard him like he is their top priority. That way, the Pens have very limited players who can score and that way, the games get very close
